Excerpt: Great bargain! I have always liked Pentax optics and decided to buy a pair of this Pentax PCF WP II 20x60 Binocular last year when money was tight but I needed some high-power glass for a mule deer hunt. I was very pleasantly surprised!
Pros: The image is large, something important in high magnification optics. The image is crisp, resolution is high and contrast is very good. Shadow detail holds up even in deep shade and poor light. Eye cups are durable and function properly. A very well made binoculars, very high quality construction.
Cons: Heavy, for a steady-handed, after 30min you have to take a break, will be difficult to use for extended amounts of time, for some people. You will need a stable tripod.
Summary: These are a very rugged, waterproof, high quality astronomy binocular. They are extremely well made. Everything on them is solid and works smoothly. Perfectly collimated. Lots of contrast and very sharp. For the money, I think these are a steal.
Pros: rugged, sharp center to edge, light for their size
Summary: These binoculars are an unusual value in a world of expensive optics. The image is large, something important in high magnification optics. The image is crisp, resolution is high and contrast is very good. Shadow detail holds up even in deep shade and poor light. Eye cups are durable and function properly. I believe you would have to spend three or four times the money to get ANY improvement over these binoculars.
Pros: Very high optical performance at a very reasonable price
Summary: Binoculars failed to focus correctly (double vision) on the second day of my deer hunt. My suspicion is they failed during my ATV ride to the hunt site. Binoculars are not robust enough for hunting situations.
Excerpt: I purchased them to use for astronomy only and they were to be used mounted. A rather strange optical artifact is seen in both barrels when looking at stars or Jupiter in the night sky. I've never seen it in any other binocular that I've used. In the left barrel when focused in on a star like Vega you would see two spikes/flares that extend outward from the star about 1/2 degree each. These are seen at the 10 o'clock and 6 o'clock position.
Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Strong Construction, Waterproof, Works Well With Glasses
