Summary: I chose these binoculars after much internet research, which gave much positive reviews - especially the fact that they were 'Which Best Buys'. Used them for the first time on our recent holiday cruise from Barcelona, and pleased to say, they proved to be just the job - easy to use, light to carry and excellent clarity. My only criticism would be the lack of a neck strap for the carrying case.
Summary: Great for the money. Easy to handle, ideal for seeing what is in your garden and most likely for the theatre if you want close-ups without paying for a front row seat. Lightweight, you could carry them all day in the great outdoors and you will be surprised by their ability and they will fit into a large pocket when you don't need them around your neck. I bought and am recommending the 8x25 in this Nikon range because of the extra clarity they offer.
Summary: I had these for Christmas and have been out birdwatching several times with them. They are very sturdy, easy to focus and surprisingly sharp for a cheapish pair. I particularly like the really short focal length, you can focus down to about 10 feet, will be great for butterflies in the summer.
Summary: My old Perl pocket binoculars were nearly 40 years old and falling apart. Their main advantage was their small size and light weight. The Travelites are a bit bigger and heavier but still fit neatly in a jacket pocket. The improvement in what I can see is incredible. Very bright, clear and easy to focus. I went for the 8x for steadiness in the field. Great for identifying birds and dragonflies when out walking.
Summary: I have had a pair of Zeiss(west)10x50 porro for over 40 years. At the time of purchase they were considered the best binocular made and are still in mint condition. However they weigh a kilogram and when walking any distance are heavy around the neck. I wanted a smaller pair to just put in my pocket when out and about and just use the 10x50s when stationary. The Nikon Travelite EX 8x25s are an excellent binocular.
Summary: My wife walks and is a keen "twitcher". The binoculars are weather proof and small so are ideal for packing in a rucksack. Quality is superb,my brother-in-law is also keen on birds and thought I might have asked his advise but was really impressed with the practicality and quality of these glasses.
