Excerpt: I purchased a Monarch 5 12x42 from B&H which works great, but I needed more magnifying power to see more details on birds. So I thought I give the Aculon a shot. I didn't expect it to be brighter (it has a smaller exit pupil) or clearer than the monarch, but definitely expected it to have more...
Excerpt: I wanted something with more power that wouldn't break the bank - these 16x50's fill the bill nicely - they are crisp , clear and easy to focus.
They are not easy to hold steady offhand , but with effort it is possible.
Excerpt: I use these for wildlife spotting, and coming from a 10X pair to the 16X pair is definitely something I should have done YEARS ago!
My only complaint is the cheap caps that are included with them, they are pretty much worthless and are what prevents me from giving these binoculars a higher rating.
Excerpt: These Nikon binoculars are very clear, offering amazing quality viewing! I have used these to whale watch from the beach, and was very impressed at how crystal clear the whales were, especially considering they were at least a half mile out to sea!
Excerpt: I am using it to see stars and planets.
I have a telescope, but this binocular when fixed on a tripod shows good images. Due to the 50mm and less magnification than the telescope, the images are brighter and of a greater area, (Pleiades for instance).
Summary: I could not be happier with my new Aculon A211 16x50. At deer hunt open day, this binocular did not disappoint. The only negative is the Objective len cap was lost due the slot-to-strap hook. I am requesting a replacement from Nikon. Highly recommended.
