Sharp and sturdy but heavy and large

Mr. No, B&H Photo
11 June 2014
  • Excerpt: These binoculars seem very well made. They feel sturdy and precise. The views are very sharp. Even at night, stars were resolved into points of light without any aberrations. They are also easy and comfortable to hold and adjust. One big selling point for me was that they have a 8.3 degrees of view, the largest I've seen in 8x40 and similar binoculars. Unfortunately they are quite large and heavy despite their relatively modest 40mm objective lenses.
  • Pros: Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof
  • Cons: Bulky, Heavy

Great Binoculars at a Great Price

2 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought these for my wife for when we go birding. I'm now jealous of my wife. For the price these are great. They're easy to focus, bright, and aren't too heavy. The field of view is large, making spotting easy. The only down side is a slight bit of chromatic aberration.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses
  • Cons: Chromatic Aberration

More than expected

  • Excerpt: This replaces two Tasco 7x35 binoculars that were over 25 years old. Wow...times have changed. I use these for bird watching and am very happy with this product. A shade heavy from what I am used to but I think the weight helps steady it. The only thing I can complain about is I wish they had a shoulder strap for the carrying case, otherwise it is a great pair of glasses for what I use them for.
  • Pros: Quality Lenses, Simple To Adjust, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses

So Far So Good

John for fun, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I purchased the 8X40 binoculars for an upcoming trip to some national parks. I've never owned or used binoculars before; so I have nothing to base my comments on other than I really like the binoculars. They are probably just what I need, and they seem to be well made. The binoculars were recommended to me by a friend who owns a pair of Nikon binoculars. After trying out the binoculars (looking at deer in my backyard), I kind of wish I had a built in camera.
  • Pros: Waterproof

  • Summary: The size, weight, and clarity are excellent. Nikon makes excellent products at a resonable price. I own Nikon hunting scopes, spotting scopes, range finder, and camera. I am a working middle class guy that can afford Nikon..

  • Excerpt: My fiancee has gotten into bird watching at the house. Bought it for her birthday. She loves it. Lot better than the inexpensive one I have. Great clarity and easy to focus. The draw back is distortion on the edge of the lens. Disappointed since its a nikon. I have their camera and know their quality. Still good buy for the money.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Strong Construction, Waterproof
  • Cons: Heavy
