  • Summary: I just bought these and as advertised they are of sturdy construction and the optics are great. But a word of warning they are heavy, too heavy for my 5' wife. I got them mostly for use on my boat where I needed the power and the weather toughness for short period observations.

  • Summary: I have used them rainy cold weather and they did't fog up. I used the to watch wild life and while on the water to find landmarks. These binoculars are great for that. I am not sure they are the best for watching sporting events.

  • Summary: I bought the Nikon Action EX Extreme 10 x 50mm Binoculars for my husband for his birthday a couple of weeks ago and he loves them. He is looking forward to using them when we go to the coast next month. I would definitely recommend the binoculars. The clarity is great and for the price, you can't beat them.

Nikon Action series 10x50 6.5 degrees

Nick, Hunting & Fishing Gear
10 February 2004
  • Conclusion: Focusing on the same objects during the same times of days with both a $35 and a $120 (list) priced binoculars, I'd say the comparatively expensive pair performed about 85% better (120 minus 35), on light and clarity. Without glare. About what you might have expected....
  • Pros: I was able to compare the Nikon and cheaper pairs, and the outstanding difference, coming as no surprise, lay in the Nikon lenses' ability to gather light. Lenses may look alike, and the exteriors and mirror arrangment of both binoculars are practically identical, but the Nikon's allow brighter images from dawn to dusk, and even during normally bright daylight. I suppose the difference is even more crucial for hunters with less than perfect vision. Clarity of objects ...
  • Cons: Cheap plastic lens protectors are not easily placed on and off and may as well be thrown away pronto. The case is solid and velcro'd, so you don't need lens covers if you use the case. An easily remedied complaint in any case.

Perfect for game watching on safari

  • Excerpt: I purchased these binoculars to take to Kenya on Safari this summer. I am so glad I did! They were absolutely perfect and allowed me to see very clearly the wildlife far in the distance. After doing my internet homework, these binoculars seemed to score highly on all comparator websites. I shopped around and found that by buying the Olympic version I could save around £80 off the retail price. Perhaps this is due to the model now being slightly' out of date'.

These binoculars are a real must have if you enjoy hunting/bird watching or simply enjoying nature

  • Excerpt: The Nikon Sporter EX 10x50 is without a doubt the best binoculars I have ever used. I myself use them for bird watching, however they are also suitable for hunting, marine and other nature scenarios. These are simply amazing... they are very easy to use and are easy to hold. I often go bird watching for extended periods and these are just perfect - weighing in at less than 1kg after a while you really get used to holding them.
