Excerpt: The focus adjustment takes a little time getting accustomed to as it's location is in the front. That being said, the quality of the glass is excellent. The construction is solid and feels good in the hand. After reading all the rave reviews and meeting my requirement for being waterproof I made my purchase and was not disappointed. If there is one flaw it is the poorly designed lens covers. The covers are for the objective lenses only and fit like socks on a rooster.
Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof, Works Well With Glasses
Excerpt: I have two other larger Nikons (8x42) and wanted something lighter. Also wanted to try 10x but was worried about shaking. These are great. The 10x is much better for birding and the shaking is minimal with the extra 2x. Minor complaint is that they do not come with objective lens covers (Nikon confirmed this) and the eyepiece covers are very loose, but this sems to be a common complaint with all Nikons.
Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Great Optics, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof
Excerpt: Bought these for my wife to replace some lower line Nikons. We use our glasses every weekend for wildlife & bird watching. She likes them very much.Pros: Very high quality glass for the price. Exceptional clarity. On par with my Swarovski SLC's. Brighter than my Swarovskis.Cons: Detents in the diopter adj knob would be nice. More friction in the width adjustment would also be good.
Summary: It is identical to its HG L normal version. Same optics and same weather sealed as well as the Tank bulit quality. FMC coating eliminates ghost shadow. It is sharp edge to edge, though it is somehow not as sharp as Lecia Ultravid. It is the only choice at this price range, you will never regret to have one.
Summary: These pocket binoculars give a sharp, contrasty image with no obvious optical aberrations. They are probably better quality than the 10x25 Swarovksi bins they are replacing (I lost them). It's true they are heavier and bulkier than the Swarovskis but they can focus much closer - 3.2m, a must if you use them for garden twitching. They also have a better eyepoint - the field of view with the naked eye is the same as with spectacles.
Summary: Very pleased with these binoculars.Optically they are first class, and do the job of looking at ships, yachts and boats very well. Just as good in fact as some Nikon Monarch 10x50 I also have.I wear glasses and can see through them very well too, and this was a key reason I bought them. They are a triffle fiddly - they need to be opened each time you take them out of the case. The come with a leather case and are made in Japan which is rare indeed.
