Good optics fragile eye cups

Wild about the bush, B&H Photo
26 June 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought these as a lightweight pair of binos for birding to take on hiking, biking and fishing trips, where the 10x42s are too heavy to carry around. The optics are good value for money, but that's where the good news ends. The adjustable eye cups are very fragile. One small drop and the plastic inside the eye cup cracked, and I stuggled to keep the broken cup on in the right position. Soon after that the other cup went.
  • Pros: Quality Lenses
  • Cons: Poor Construction

User Review

Bikerhermit, Walmart
20 May 2011
  • Summary: Was good device for about 2 years, then the rubber around the focus control started slipping on the metal beneath it. In a drunken disgust, slammed them on the table, breaking it into 2 monoculars. Too bad, cause I had taken the trouble to fabricate 2 prescription lenses, fitted onto the occulars. These served me well up to that point. I supposed I should have just chilled, and "somehow" glued the rubber on, but too late now...

Nikon Trailblazer ATB Waterproof Compact 10x25 Binoculars

Carl J Licari, opticsplanet.com
25 July 2007
  • Summary: Everything about these binoculars is what I hoped for, except for the focusing mechanism. There is a at least 3/4" inch of slop in the focusing wheel. I thought I just got a defective pair and returned them for a new pair. Same thing. For this reason only I cannot recommend them. Save your money for the Monarch's, they are awesome.
  • Pros: Great optics, light weight, compact size
  • Cons: Poor focusing mechanism
