Leica 8x42 Trinovid Binocular

13 January 2014
  • Excerpt: High quality and performance I'm very satisfied with this Leica 8x42 Trinovid Binocular . It's very sharp, has a nice vibrant image, and great contrast. Chromatic aberration or color fringing is corrected very well (essentially absent) in the center of the image.

High quality and performance

  • Summary: I'm very satisfied with this binocular. It's very sharp and has a nice vibrant image, great contrast. CA or color fringing is corrected very well (essentially absent) in the center of the image. The image quality is excellent, but I am even more satisfied with the design and build. It has very nice smooth rubber armour and nice fit and feel in my hands. Excellent focus and diopter. The diopter is the best I've seen.

too expensive

  • Summary: these work OK most of the time. I saw a lot of purple fringing on back lit surfaces, not cool at 1400 bucks. Otherwise they are sharp and are well made. I expected better for something that is supposed to be so much improved.

They're ok

Hal, Eagle Optics
28 March 2012
  • Summary: I was very excited to get these bins. Picked one up about a week after they came out. However, when they arrived I was very disappointed with its performance. When compared side by side with my old pair of fujinon CD's (~$250.00) they are only marginally brighter and about the same on sharpness. The leica's did have a better field of view. The rubber armor seemed very flimsy especially around the shaft. This is not the tank that the Trinovid used to be.
