Leica Trinovid 10x42 BN

22 April 2010
  • Conclusion: The binoculars virtually without faults, although, taking into account the price, you could expect better results when it comes to the sharpness of the field at its edge, the distortion correction or the whiteness rendition.
  • Pros: very solid housing, convenient to hold,, good transmission,, very low astigmatism,, slight coma,, chromatic aberration quite well-corrected,, negligent light fall-off at the edge of the field,, high quality of prism and coatings,, almost imperceptible inner flares,, perfectly circular exit pupils clearly seen in the black background,, good warranty conditions.
  • Cons: whiteness rendition could have been better.

The Zeiss Victory 10x40 B*T*P* AOS and the Leica Ultra Trinovid 10x42 BN

Cloudy Nights

  • Excerpt: I conducted a practical comparison of these two new, highly advanced, waterproof binoculars. First handling revealed that the Zeiss 10x40 Victory is almost a featherweight glass when compared with the Leica 10x42 BN. The difference in the hand and in wearing comfort is immediately noticeable. The user feel of both are superb, but the slightly "grabbier" texture, lighter weight, and broader holding surface on the Zeiss gives an impression of greater security.
