Summary: It took me weeks to talk myself into buying them but once i did it was money well spent. It took me a little while to get my ballistics on the SD card at Leica camera .com.but finally got it right.Took them out in the field and they ranged over 2000 yards.I happen to see a cow at 847 yards away the great glass let my see the eartag clear as can be seen from that distance.
Summary: I want to start with a gripe for Leica. You used to offer a greater spectrum of binos with the green rubber armor and now do not. How did black become the standard for sport optics most likely to be carried in a hunting context? I'd have paid a reasonable premium to get these with green armor, & since so many who fork out the coin for this tier product are PHs, I'm sure I'm not alone.
Summary: I tested the temp, Baro pressure, and angle, all were perfect according to the other methods I use. The preprogramed are ok if your shooting to 500 yards at big game. Being able to download your custom ballistics is priceless. WOW is it accurate. This matched JBM and G7 out to a 1000 yds. It gives elevation accurately and very fast. It dose not give any windage adjustments. Now the glass, UNBELIEVABLE!
Summary: Hands down the best binoculars anybody could buy! The technology of these binoculars is unbelievable.. You need to get down to a Cabelas near you and put them in your hands then you will see what I mean.. Cons you ask -not one, not even the cost!
Summary: The optical clarity is outstanding, which you would expect for a high end binocular/rangefinder in this price range. They are very clear under marginal/lowlight conditions. (More so than my 7x50 marine binoculars.) I am extremely impressed with the light transmission before sunrise.
Excerpt: I bought these for deer hunting. I've been thinking about it for the last couple years but didn't want to spend the money. Boy am I glad I did. I usually hunt pretty thick woods in Alabama where I live. But as I write this review I'm sitting in a shooting house in the Mississippi delta and they are as great here as they have been back at home. Besides being VERY clear, compact and light weight they are awesome in low light.
Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof
Excerpt: I replaced my swaro 7.5x42WB(previous model) to 8x42 HD. I compared them side-by-side. When I saw a carrion crow in the white snow, surprisingly Leica has almost no color fringe at the center of image. At corner, it is little better than swaro. Less color fringe and less distorted image. But, objective lens caps are tight. Neck strap is too long to me. Also swaro design has advantage by handling. Acrylic indicator cover of diopter adjustment looks cheep.
Pros: Quality Lenses, Waterproof, Works Well With Glasses
Excerpt: i have compared this 8x42 HD side by side with Zeiss FL 8x42 and nikon edg 8x42; believe in Leica, this is really worth them money. all three are excellent binoculars but Leica is surely the top in terms of crisp clear image, image of details!
Pros: Compact, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
