Excerpt: I use these to view the 2 mile view of the lake off my back deck, watching for breaking fish. They do the job nicely. For star viewing they are good but you'll need a very sturdy tripod. Highly recommend. I wear glasses and I have no problem viewing with them on.
Pros: Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Works Well With Glasses
Excerpt: Excellent light-gathering for star gazing, plus the right magnification to allow use without tripod when seated (not standing). It comes with a tripod mount if you chosoe to use one. I can clearly see open clusters, asterisms, Jupiter's Galilean moons, and bright nebulae. I saw one of the brighter globular clusters as well.
Summary: As with any on line shopping you rely on positive reviews before making any such purchase decisions. I wanted the best visual power binoculars that could give me clear crisp views of the night sky and terrestrial objects. I thought that such binoculars would be way more expensive than what my budget would allow but found the Celestron Sky Master 15x70's on ebay for way less than even lower spec expensive branded units in my local camera shops here in Australia.
Excerpt: My primary use is astronomy, but also enjoy bird watching. The negative reviews about poor collimation, etc., are probably accurate for those PARTICULAR units and they should be returned. Hey folks, ANYBODY can have a bad production run and these poorly performing units are probably a result of a bad run. Mine work great and a fellow retired health care professional who has a similar pair also loves his.
Excerpt: These are great binoculars for bird walks. The focus control is very fine, and everything looks very 3 dimensional. Color and contrast is better than expected for such an inexpensive item. The view is very bright. The only downsides are objects have to be pretty far away to focus on them (but that's stated in the specs so I knew to expect it) and they are large compared to the 10x50s I have.
