Boating binoculars

Phil, B&H Photo
19 October 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought these binoculars to use on my 21' boat. They are very helpful for viewing the shoreline, other boats and navigation markers as long as the seas are not too rough. In very rough seas the IS is overwhelmed. In general though, I think they are a great pair of binoculars for the money.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Not Waterproof

Nice size, even better performance

  • Excerpt: Prior to purchaing the 8x25 IS binoculars, I already owned a pair of 15x50 IS, which I love to use but find a bit too heavy and bulky to use when birding with a long lens on a monopod. So, I based my decision to buy on my prior satisfaction with the larger binoculars.
  • Pros: Compact, Image stabilization, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction

It's not a catchy HL, but it is factual.

  • Excerpt: Great product. It would be preferable to have a consistent on with auto off rather than holding down the button to achieve active stabilization.
  • Pros: Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Not Waterproof

A very nice pair.

  • Excerpt: We use it for bird watching, mostly marine birds, through our windows which look out on a bay. These are 8x and I suspect that I should have spent a bit more for the 10x binoculars.

  • Excerpt: This has been great for going to outdoor NFL football games. As useful as more expensive binoculars because of the image stabilization feature.Lenses are also good.

Excellent optics and good IS

  • Excerpt: Very high quality image. Use of IS is a bit confounding at first as image shifts abruptly when IS is starting, but is very helpful once you learn to ignore this.

  • Excerpt: I also own 8x 30 Swarovskis and 8x20 Leicas. The lenses are not as sharp but the optic image stabilizer more than makes up for it. It takes away the motion that can cause headaches with cheaper binoculars. Great purchase for someone that can't afford the pricey brands.
