Excellent All Around Binocular

Tom, Canon
7 September 2014
  • Conclusion: Being an amateur astronomer for 5 decades I have looked through many, many binoculars of all sizes, shaped, magnifications and objective size. I currently own at least 5 binoculars of various sizes. Of all these I use the Canon 10 X 30 IS the most. They are easy to hold, rubber coated for stability, lightweight and compact. The battery compartment door is easy to open to access and change the batteries should you need to. Battery life is very good.

Made the right choice

Mike, B&H Photo
24 August 2014
  • Excerpt: As a volunteer with the County Sheriff's Office, this IS binocular is a near perfect fit. Considered the 10x42 waterproof version, also an excellent choice, but for capability, weight, and functionality, these are ideal. Better eyepiece and objective lens caps would be a superb addition to this fine piece of equipment. I would highly recommend this Canon product.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Not Waterproof

Just what we were looking for

Adorama
27 June 2014
  • Excerpt: Several years ago I purchased the Canon 15x50 IS All Weather and became sold on IS binoculars. I needed a set at a 2nd location but did not want to spend over $500. I am super happy with the IS Porro Prism.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction

Sticky cover

Tom, B&H Photo
17 June 2014
  • Excerpt: These are hard to rate. Optically they are very good and the image stabilizer works well so functionally they get 5 stars. The problem is that after about 2 years the black case starts to disintegrate. It gets all sticky and rubs off on everything. By the time we sent them in to the repair center they were 4 years old and a real mess. They were out of warranty and canon wanted almost the cost of a new pair to fix them.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Quality Lenses
  • Cons: Poor Construction

Tomboy, B&H Photo
27 March 2014
  • Excerpt: Everyone that has used binoculars knows how frustrating and upsetting it is when you are looking at smaller objects and the image is jumping about because it is impossible to totally hold still unless you have the binoculars mounted. The Canon 10x30 IS binocular is your answer! Just find the object you are looking at, press the IS button and all movement stops and you have a perfectly clear image.
  • Pros: Close Focus, Comfortable to hold, Compact, Ease of use, Easy to focus, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Hard To Use With Glasses

It does what it says it does

  • Excerpt: My tremor had caused me to give up on binoculars. My wife loves birding. It was very frustrating. Now I can see all those cool details that allow identification. Most importantly I can now appreciate the beauty of birds and other wildlife. I wish I had made this purchase years ago.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Works Well With Glasses
  • Cons: Not Waterproof

  • Summary: I bought a pair (secondhand), and boy do i love these, they are fantastic would recommend them to anyone looking for binos.i bought these for general and bird watching use and they outshine in every way.the only thing i dislike is they really need a hard case to put them in,not sure how they compare to other brands now i got these i dont want anything else, the image stabilisation is a great feature that im sure you dont find on others and that is a good selling point

These do not last

Bloke, Canon
20 February 2014
  • Conclusion: My first pair of these binoculars were great when new. After about 4 years the image stabilizing mechanism froze. Although I live about one mile from the coast, the Canon Factory Service said that they were corroded. Repairs would be almost the cost of a new pair...which I bought. Now, after about 5 years the second pair has stopped working and the exterior plastic case has turned soft and sticky.
  • Pros: light weight very sharp for size.
  • Cons: not durable, not the quality one expects from canon
