Summary: I ordered and returned an apparently defective unit. Amazon handled the return very efficiently and at no cost to me, and has credited my credit card for the purchase. Due to this performance I tried again and ordered the same unit again. Again it appeared to be defective, it wouldn't turn on. I was following the illustration in the manual for insertion of the two batteries.
Summary: Bought these with moderately high expectations, and fully understanding the limitations of first generation night vision technology, I can say I'm satisfied with the performance. They work ALMOST as good as the military grade night vision gear I used in the 1980's. If you do a bit of research you'll see that 2nd generation night vision optics are significantly more expensive. If you're rich go for 3rd gen equip.
Summary: I live in a rural area on a horse ranch, bordering a few hundred acres of open space. I wanted an inexpensive device that would let me wildlife-watch without disturbing the scene, along with the slightly more practical coyote/stray dog check before I let my small dogs out in the evening. The Good: * For the money, this is an excellent device. Image quality is great for a Gen-1 unit, and construction quality is better than expected for the price point.
Summary: I've only used these glasses a few times, but they seem to do just what I want. I really haven't had to use the infrared much at all since the regular power is very good in low light that is not total darkness. They seem to be the right combination of power and price.
Summary: My husband was so happy with this gift he used it in he garage first then turned the lights on and it stopped working for a minute. But after reading the instructions he got it working again. Just make sure not to expose the uncovered lense to direct light and you will be fine.
Summary: I purchased this item nearly 3 years ago and it has literally seen the world. I love it so much yhat it has never been inside of a checked bag. (Always in my carry on Bag whenever I fly.) I use it on cruises, hunting trips, camp outs, or just to go to visit Mom & Dad's house in upstate NY. I highly recommend for star gazing especially.
Pros: Close Focus, Compact, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction
