Perfect for the budding Bill Oddie

  • Summary: I bought a pair of these binoculars for birdwatching purposes and they have proved admirable at the task. They are reassuringly heavy, given their relatively small dimensions; They are about eleven centimetres long and nine centimetres wide, although they gain up to an extra two centimetres in width at the first glimpse of anything exciting with just a bit of manual manipulation.

Very good value binos

  • Summary: I took a long time to decide about a pair of compact binos and narrowed my search down to these and a pair of Nikon's. The Barr & Stround were about half the price of the Nikon's and every bit as good. They are chunckier than the Nikon's but the quality is good - very rugged and with excellant optics. My only negative comment is the eye relief is not enough for me if I don't wear my specticals. I get a black ring appearing in my vision around the eyes pieces.

Excellent optic in a rugged package

  • Summary: I bought these after sending back a pair of Celestron compact binoculars because the minimum focus was more like 25 feet rather than the stated 12 feet. I didn't have this problem with these Barr and Stroud binocs. The optics are very clear and the binoculars feel rugged and well put together. My only complaint is that the case is a very tight fit especially when you have put the strap onto the binocs.
