Alpen Shasta Ridge 10 x 42 Waterproof Binoculars
Ranger Tom, REI
14 September 2013
Summary: I picked these up as a spare pair and a knockaround pair for float trips. They are superb for the price point. The focus is quite clear and they seem pretty sturdy. I've been in a flipped canoe where they were under water for 4 minutes and didn't leak a bit.I lead birding walks as a park ranger and have used the a bit on the job too.
Pros: Close Focus, Strong Construction, Waterproof, Works Well With Glasses
Summary: This is a really good product, the glass is very clear and bright, the weight is really good and it comes with protective covers.. The only negative item is that the binoculars range between the eyes does not spread wide enough for my preference... But I do recommend buying this product!!
Pros: Clear glass, easy to focus, light weight, price good
Summary: After going through a few pairs of cheap binoculars, I stumbled upon these. As soon as you pick these up you can tell there not cheap. They have a solid feeling with a rubber like coating for durability & easy grip. When I first looked through these, my first thought was "WOW!, These are nice". Very bright and clear. The focus is great, and doesn't need "fine tuning" as often as other pairs I have tried. I really like the lens caps that you can leave on all the time.
Summary: First used while turkey hunting. Glassed birds across 800-900 yard field, besides heat wave distortion could easily see tom on edge of field in the shadows. Not a whole lot of diff. between my father-in-laws' Swarovski binos.
Pros: very good clarity, nice contrasting definition, like the adjustable eye cups
