Excerpt: I read about these in Outdoor World magazine as being a great buy and BOY ARE THEY! They enhanced my vacations in the South West and Canada and Scotland and were very affordable through Adorama. I had a little problem with them after 5 years and Alpen Optics sent me a brand NEW pair of Shasta Ridge 10 x 42 in the return mail. If this is your budget (< $200) get these guys with confidence. You won't be sorry!
Pros: Close Focus, Lightweight, Quality Lenses, Strong Construction, Waterproof, Works Well With Glasses
Summary: This is a great bino for the money. Works great with eyeglasses. Wide field of view allows me to find and track birds and butterflies more easily than with my narrower FOV binos. I really enjoyed using them for the first time this evening watching groups of vultures and a hawk soar in the sky. Twist down eye cups function nicely. Color and finish of these binos appear better in hand than as shown in picture.
Pros: long eye relief, wide FOV, optical quality, low price
Summary: There are so many good things to say about the Alpen model 317.The brightness-multi-coating gives a very bright image even on cloudy days-the twist up eye cups-All focusing wheels turn very smoothly just to mention a few. I did not expect to get this much quality for the price. Cap in Ohio.
