  • Excerpt: Let's face it, most of these acoustic electric basses sound terrible. No projection, and no tone at all.Except this one. I like that I can just pick it up and start to play, but if you're in a group with more than one other instrument you'll have to amplify it.Yes, it's neck heavy, but use a leather strap and it's not too bad.I like the feel of the Jazz Bass neck, always have. And the Fishman pre-amp works like a charm.
  • Pros: Pros, Fun To Play, Good Feel, Stays In Tune
  • Cons: Cons, Neck Heavy

Fender DG-8S Acoustic Guitar Value Pack

20 July 2007
  • Excerpt: My brother bought this guitar as a first guitar back in 1997 or 1998. He was just starting out and it was recommended by the man at the music shop. We use Sheets & Sons Music in Heath, OH. They have a great selection and our very knowledgeable. Anyhow, the gentleman working there suggested we use this guitar pack. It has a solid top and comes with all kinds of great extras (picks, strings, string winder, DVD, electronic tuner, etc.) I really like this guitar.

  • Summary: Acoustically, it is bright for such a big body. Perhaps it was because of the cutaway. I wish the sound were deeper and darker. I played it unplugged with my wife on the piano, and it prevails against the onslaught of her Yamaha. The deep body creates enough resonance to "fight back" the sound of the piano. I am very happy with it. Plugging in is where the fun starts. I can create virtually any sound I want.
