Summary: Installed 45nm 3Ghz dual core w 6Mb Cache and 4G = 2x2G GSkill dual channel F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ with Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Works very fast and is super quiet Works well and assembled in < 30 minutes.
Pros: Very Quiet Larger on the inside as case is a bit larger Sleek design Fast
Cons: No heat pipe so requires 3rd party CPU fan - this should have been highlighted as all previous shuttle systems I built came with a heat pipe and thus did not require the purchase of a CPU fan. Not crazy about the front of the case design which hides the DVD-ROM drive door behind a trap door.
Summary: This little box is a beast. It's small and quite and performs absolutely perfectly.
Pros: I purchased this as a replacement server for an old shoebox PC that was fried by a lightening strike. I droped a dual-core CPU and 2 gigs of RAM and am good to go. It's been running non-stop for a year.
Summary: My company has been using Shuttle Barebones PC's for the last 4 years as servers at our various satellite offices. These were great little systems and served us well. Two years ago all of the shuttles with built in RAID seemed to disappear so we had to fragment our models a little bit and buy AMD's...
Pros: DDR3 with 775 series CPU? Uncommon. I wish I had noticed that before buying a new stick of DDR2 for this system. The one of these that actually passed it's POST works great. I did encounter a couple of BSOD's while repairing the computer's operating system. I swapped to a different processor and ...
Cons: No CPU heat sync. Was replacing a dead Shuttle SD30G2 Plus that had died, used the shuttle proprietary heat sync and fan. That setup wont fit in this model, had to buy a cheap unit with annoying push and twist mounts. I went through three different shuttles and every single one was DOA. They woul...
Summary: A huge percent of these arrive DOA. There's something to that. No excuses. Shuttle is worse than a hit and miss company - now it's miss most of the time. Poor bios, cheap case materials, bad drivers and bios updates, rude service. Shuttle just abuses their customers across the board.
Cons: Poor quality, Newegg ripped me off for the 4th time in 1 year. Pure junk. This has been a troublesome product. New egg should take a stand for their customers and tell Shuttle they will stop selling their products if they don't step up they quality control and service.
Summary: Newegg should suggest appropriate cpu coolers as a package deal with this case or best case scenario(pun intended), include the cheap rosewill with it.
Pros: 1.Very quiet, clean, and best of all small. Good design overall but this offer has some issues. 2. 250 watt power supply actually booted with my pci express nvidia card. I was impressed. Stress testing with 3 games shows good performance so far. 3. I backup my data and dropped my win7 pro hard in...
Cons: 1. No cpu cooler included means you have to buy an aftermarket one. I goofed and got one the first time that was waaay too big but finally settled on a 10 buck low profile rosewill lga775 cooler which seems to be working great, but as its my first 775, I find the m/b attachment flimsy imo. Coolin...
Summary: Tried three different mainstream brands of memory before I bought Kingston 4 GB sticks off the supported memory list (I know, that was dumb), and none, including the Kingstons worked. No internal speaker means no post codes. RAM problem means no display. RMA with Newegg and same problem.
Pros: Small, quiet, inexpensive.
Cons: Pre 103 Bios revs have very very poor memory compatibility.
Summary: Newegg was great in guiding me through the RMA and replacement process, a procedure I rarely have to use with this excellent company. There was absolutely no hassle, and I was able to track the replacement unit through every step of the process.
Pros: This replacement unit has the same beauty as its defective predecessor - the one that would not fire up. The RMA'd system is perfect. It was easy to outfit with CPU, memory, and hard drives. It runs reasonably cool and is nearly silent. I am infatuated.
Cons: Shuttle does not invest sufficiently in documentation: For all practical purposes, documentation barely exists. Shuttle's market could expand substantially if it would provide a manual that enables someone other than an experienced system builder to outfit and configure its boxes.
Summary: Now that I am up and running (with 6 GB RAM & 64bit Windows), it runs like a champ and is quiet and cool. But totally unacceptable trouble and time spent.
Pros: Once I received 2nd box, updated/flashed the bios, all is well with the Shuttle.
Cons: Wow. First bad experience with Newegg. Could blame it on Shuttle, but Newegg should have pulled this baby once they had so many DOA's. My first box was DOA. I had purchased a stick of 4GB RAM. After reading reviews, I purchased a lower density stick of 2 GB RAM at Office Depot. Still would not PO...
