Pros: When contacting Motorola support for a question about the unit I learned that this model is a "Custom Unit" designed and specially configured for "Blood Bank" applications. While it was not clear to me what that means (did not care as that is not my application) it was certainly not stated as such on the posting here.
Summary: Symbol makes a really good scanner product. They are generally rugged, reliable and feature rich. The hardest thing to do with a scanner is getting what they call ADF rules into the scanner. They have at 2 versions of software to make up the adf rules for the 2208 and depending upon which version of scanner you have you have to use one or the other version. However it I was going to war, This is the scanner I would take!
Summary: Out of the 2,000 LS2208 scanners we have used for the past 4 years, only two have ever had a problem, and one of those was due to mishandling. I have never experienced a more reliable product of any kind. The device is also highly versatile as it can be used for any type of barcode scanning requirement, and when need be, the LS2208 is configurable in an instant by simply scanning a test code. This device is plug and play on all computer systems as well.
