Effective once Programmed

Brian C., Newegg
24 February 2014
  • Summary: I have probably 60 of these scanners throughout our warehouses and vary rarely have any problem with them. They are used 8+ hours a day registering up to 2,500 scans a day. Would be higher rating, but the programming could be simplified a bit.
  • Pros: Very Durable (Used in out warehouse and gets dropped and beat up frequently) Fast and reliable. 5 year warranty is also a plus
  • Cons: A little difficult to learn how to program to your exact needs- Especially for proprietary applications. Using the stand keeps the scanner on almost all the time which decreases the life of the laser.

User Review

Brian C., Newegg
4 September 2013
  • Summary: Some come with a mounting stand. The way we scan I do not use them because the barcode stays on 24/7... This would kill the scanner so quickly so we just do not use the stand and use it by hand
  • Pros: Very Durable Scanner! I own a bunch of these for production line scanning. Very reliable scanners. Dropped a ton in our line of work and they are still kicking. Ability for slow and speed scanning, and does not get bogged down. I use mine with serial cables, but used USB for a couple things, driv...

Did not know this was a "Custom Unit"

The G., Newegg
7 May 2013
  • Pros: When contacting Motorola support for a question about the unit I learned that this model is a "Custom Unit" designed and specially configured for "Blood Bank" applications. While it was not clear to me what that means (did not care as that is not my application) it was certainly not stated as suc...

Great scanner

Vestal A., Newegg
26 November 2012
  • Summary: Works great with Intuit Point of Sale -- Intuit will try to sell you an "approved" scanner for significantly more. Don't fall for it. This one is much nicer and works perfectly.
  • Pros: -plug-n-play setup couldn't be more simple. Only setup I needed to do was scan the 3 codes in the setup manual to add an enter key after the code. -includes the stand -the scanner recognizes when it is on the stand and goes into a constant scan mode. Great for quickly scanning many items in a row...
  • Cons: -stiff cord makes if hard to keep the scanner on its stand if there isn't a lot of open space around it (like if its on a small counter) The stand has holes to screw it down and this is necessary as the stiff cord tends to flip the stand over. -constant scan mode tends to confuse some cashiers, b...

  • Pros: Super easy to set up, works right out of the box with 99% of what we do. Windows just sees a USB keyboard and everything goes smoothly. Included quick start guide has some common reconfigurations right on the sheet.
  • Cons: The included USB cable is a little short.

BRANDON R., Newegg
2 March 2010
  • Summary: One of the other reviewers said that they got bought out so the future was uncertain well that isn't the case. They were bought out by Motorola a few years ago and the products have kept being great.
  • Pros: Plug and Play, all you do is plug it in and scan some bar codes to configure it the way you want. Very easy.
  • Cons: None
