Maclaren

Bnh18, toysrus.com
17 July 2013
  • Summary: I was interested in this item due to the high weight capacity, however i was very disappointed when I tried it out in person. This stroller is nice for an umbrella stroller of course, but the seat back is way to low to comfortably fit a child anywhere near 40 pounds let alone 65! If my daughter were to rest her head back it would be hanging out the back and leaning against the seat recliner handle (hard plastic not comfy).
  • Pros: Lightweight
  • Cons: looks cheap, Not Adjustable, Uncomfortable

will bring it back; some surprises

atticmmouse, toysrus.com
15 August 2011
  • Summary: I registered for this after reading reviews that it came with the car seat attachement. I can say that upon first evaluation, the quality is excellent. However there are a few things that suprised us: Color is a bit more 'pinkish' than can be seen in the pictures. It does NOT come with the car seat adaptor. I contacted Maclaren to be sure and the customer service responded (promptly) that this model no longer is sold with the adaptor which must be purchased.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Steer, Lightweight, Sturdy

Awkward yet pricey

clarkbird, Ebay
14 October 2006
  • Summary: For the price of a high end stroller you get something very average and lacking some of the advantages of your basic Graco. The previous reviewer rates having the babies side by side very highly and the Graco Duorider can do that for considerably less cost. The Maclaren is difficult to fold. You must use two hands to adjust the recline of each seat so you can't do it while holding a baby. It doesn't stand when folded.

Good build quality and functional although the rain cover could be better

  • Excerpt: I purchased this umbrella fold buggy as my son is very tall for his age and this buggy has a nice long back giving him lots of head room. Its quick and east to put up and fold down when wearing shoes but in flip-flops or delicate shoes it's a little harder as you have to bend down to pull up the leaver that you can usually use your foot for, making it a two handed job rather than one.

" Wish it could fold smaller…"

  • Excerpt: Good size buggy just wish I had done some more research before buying. We have a large car and find that the buggy is too long to fit neatly into the boot. It will fit but at an angle leaving not a lot of room for anything else. Also find it awkward to fold and store.

A nice addition to your travel system but not essential

17 April 2012
  • Excerpt: As a new mother it was important to me to be able to see my baby when I was taking him out in his buggy and as I had bought a Mclaren buggy I bought the travel cot to enable me to do this. For a newborn baby the travel cot is a good size and because it was winter we managed to fit baby and a blanket into the cot. We did however think that the base could have a bit more padding so we also put in a mattress.

a good pram but expensive for what it is

labrador3, Dooyoo

  • Excerpt: Ever since seeing a Macalren XLR while out shopping I vowed to research the pram even though I wasnt pregant at the time! (I'm a self confessed pram-a-holic!) I thought that if I ever had another baby then this would be the pram to get and it doesnt hurt to do a little research. When I eventually got pregnant I looked at every picture and colour you could get of this pram and read all the reviews (which were 90% positive) and kept coming back to the conclusion that this...

" We bought the xlr as we wanted a good sturdy…"

SamiK, Mumsnet
2 September 2011
  • Excerpt: We bought the xlr as we wanted a good sturdy city pram with carrycot - and also bought the britax car seat to fit into it. The carrycot was absolutely perfect for daytime sleeping....up to 6 weeks! My little girl outgrew it before she was 2 months old! For that reason I wouldn't recommend it - as now without the carseat addition then we would have had to sit a 2 month old baby in the main seat facing outwards (not what we wanted and she looks far too small!

" I researched pushchairs online heavily before settling on the XLR…"

Underachieving, Mumsnet
2 April 2011
  • Excerpt: I researched pushchairs online heavily before settling on the XLR because of its height. Online reviews claim a handle height of anything up to 130cm, but Maclaren's customer service line only claims 107cm. I measured the Techno XLR's handles at 111cm fully raised. I have learned a lesson here, which is not to buy anything on the sole strength of online research. I hated the XLR and am sending it back.
