Brilliant for toddlers. My 2-year-old is happy to sit on it although I do still have to hold onto her

  • Summary: This is a great choice for toddlers who are able to walk but tire easily. The Hipseat means tots can be be easily and painlessly carried when needed.
  • Pros: You aren't carrying baby on your hip which is better for you and baby, great as tots get bigger and heavier, redistributes weight through back and shoulders so you aren't feeling as strained
  • Cons: It takes a bit of time to put it on correctly, there are no straps to secure your child

Karen Froud, Made for Mums
30 January 2006
  • Summary: My son was 10lb at birth and has grown up what you might call a 'chunky' baby. When he's teething and needs lots of cuddles the belt is a life saver because he is just too heavy to carry around. The other time that I love the belt is when I am organising to get out of the house and he becomes tired.
  • Pros: Great for carrying baby whilst doing other things.
  • Cons: You have to find it before picking up the baby(!) (doesnt have a tracking device) As a result, I dont use it ALL the time.

" Pointless product. Get a proper carrier/ sling!…"

  • Excerpt: I didn't buy this. We got it from someone who was getting rid of their old baby paraphernalia. We used it a few times around the house when the baby wanted to be held and both of us agreed it made carrying the baby on our hip more comfortable BUT you still have to hold the baby so ultimately it's...

  • Excerpt: I use this for my 6 month old and 3 year old and will probably use it for a very long time to come. Baby sits well and has a cuddle. Toddler has face-to-face time while I push the buggy with baby in it. I pretty much don't take it off!!

" Fab product especially for keen to walk toddlers who just…"

  • Excerpt: Fab product especially for keen to walk toddlers who just want the occasional rest. Easy to use but would be easier still if it could be clipped up for both left and right handed use without spinning it around your waist.

Good but could be better

  • Excerpt: I have had my hippy seat for about 2 years but only found it again the other day. I had tucked it away until I was ready to use it. I finally got to use it the other day and whilst a little awkward for my 13 month old I can tell you it was much easier to carry my 3 year old.

" I don't think I have fully 'utilise' its potential yet…"

MeghanMc, Mumsnet
11 August 2011
  • Excerpt: I don't think I have fully 'utilise' its potential yet as my baby is only a year old. So she is a wee bit 'short' to sit on the hipseat. As other reviewers commented, you still need a hand to wrap around the child's waist. I have used this and in combine with my babasling (great combination).
