The best compromise between economy and safety I found

Summary: We were going to go with the more economical Britax First Class Plus but seats that span too many categories were too much of a compromise on safety. I found the popular MaxiCosi insubstantial; this feels deeper and safer tho I'm not sure if that then shortens the lifespan of the seat for bigger...
Pros: Which? best buy, one of the best if your car does not have Isofix bars. It is flexible: can be used fairly easily both with and without the base (good if you use 2 cars). Oddly enough, Which? rate it safer without the use of the base but I prefer it for convenience. That said, base is easy enough...
Cons: This fits in my 04 Fiesta but the front passenger seat is all the way forward so if you have a tall passenger, they will be squished. In shops, this is sold as part of the Graco Symbio travel system which is not to everyone's liking but it fits all Graco car-seat-compatible strollers. If you buy ...
Summary: It is quite a long carseat. My friend has twins and two of the carseats. When she came to fit them for real she found it wouldn't fit behide the diver's seat when dad was driving not to much of a proplem one goes in the front (no airbag so it was safe to do so).
Pros: Lots of padding. Some of which removes as your child grows. hood help protect baby from the sun in the car. Child high up and maybe able to see out of the window.
Cons: very long. And the straps can get twisted easily. It can be difficult to fit without the base as you have to get the angle right and you can't see it marker as it on the wrong side of the seat for most people
Summary: Good value and top quality in one package. The infant hugger was great when Annabel was tiny, and it has been easy to use, especially with the level indicator to tell me I've got it positioned at the right angle.
Pros: I love that this is suitable from birth to 13kg (it's a Group 0+) - I went for this instead of just a Group 0 car seat, so I could get more months out of it before having to research the next car seat (Annabel is just about to need a new one!). Annabel seemed comfy in this, it feels secure, is qu...
Cons: There are slightly lighter car seats around (though there are heavier ones too!)
Summary: A good solid car seat for your newborn and ideal if you have a Graco travel system
Pros: Easy to adjust, deep seat makes baby safe and secure. Works well with the base, easy to get in and out of car and onto travel system. The hood acts well as a sun shade and rain shower protector when moving in and out of the house.
Cons: We needed to add a head support (hugger style one) as the one provided didnt seem to hold our little one when newborn. Also the chest pads tend to pop off easily when taking little one in and out.
Summary: this is the second of these seats we've had (for 2 separate children ) and I've been very happy with them. always felt my babies to be safe in them. good side impact protection. good value for money
