Summary: Great sound in a compact system for those of us who are not interested in, nor have the time for, downloading all our music, but just listen to our favorite CD's and view our DVDs on something less than a giant Home Theater set up.
Summary: I'm very satisfied with this audio system. Sound is very good, it is small and it is made of quality materials. It was my update for an old audio system and it combines new technoloy (USB, HDMI, several audio and video formats) with a traditional and quality design. SO, it is exactly I was looking for!
Summary: This is a nice little system and does everything I expected. The sound is bigger and better than I anticipated -- the bass is fuller and deeper than I would have anticipated given the small speakers. The low end is a tiny bit "boxy" and the high end could be a tiny bit crisper, but I'd underscore tiny in both cases. I listen flat and like the sound. Power is pretty good for me, though I'm not trying to rattle the windows.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Great Sound
Summary: Easy set-up. Small size is contrary to the performance of this little unit. Clear, rich sound w/both CD's and DVD's. Subwoofer a must. Really rounded out the sound a bunch. I-pod dock makes this even more of a great system. If you are looking for an I-Pod, DVD, CD, or player with a lot of flexibility, you really can't go wrong here!
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy Controls, Easy To Set Up, Great Sound
Summary: We got this for our open space living area (a space big enough for our home office, living room and dining room). We didn't want a system to dominate the room with big speakers and we didn't want to set up a whole surround system, but we did want excellent sound quality. We are very happy with the sound. We use both the CD/DVD slot to play CDs and the USB port to play music from our MP3 players.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Great Sound, Powerful, Sturdy
Summary: While in no way an audiophile, I would say the sound is great and I would rate that as 5 stars for smaller rooms. My beef is with the controls. I hate remote controls and most of the functions on this unit are controlled using the remote. I am old fashioned and like buttons, dials and switches on the unit itself. Also, while you can set Bass and Treble, the unit has no equalizer. While the CD player works and sounds fine, it seems very slow to load, read, and then play.
Summary: This Yamaha system offers incredible sound in a small, solidly built package. However, what is not clear from the description is that it is not designed as a stand-alone audio system (the reason I bought it). To access many of the menu functions it must be connected to a TV. So, if you are looking for a compact home theatre system, this could be a good choice. If all you want is a small but high-quality music player, continue shopping.
