Summary: We live in a small apartment and just wanted a boombox-style system. But they all sounded terrible to us, even $400 Sony systems. Then we saw the Yamaha GX-500. First, it was very attractive - cherrywood, yet very modern. Then we heard it and it was the only boom/mini that actually sounded pleasing. It wasn't spectacular, but it was entry-level quality in our un-audiophilic opinion. It's now $320 at Best Buy.
