Tivoli's Flagship Audio System

Summary: Being the owner of an older car with a factory Bose audio system, I was considering a Bose Wave CD Sound System for my home. I was looking for something well built but smaller in size that would fit on my bedroom nightstand. That being said, a wake up alarm was also a must and I knew the Bose Wave had such.
MSY: Tivoli Audio Music System - high price, mediocre sound
21 October 2009
Summary: i own a songbook, and was so impressed with its sound, when this came out i was excited to purchase for a bedroom radio. i had been contemplating purchasing the model one and all the add-ons for a stereo set-up, but settled on this. and settle i did. i purchased this before the price increase and still feel i over paid. the sound is muffled, the cd player makes a lot of noise and takes a while to load. on the up side it looks nice.
MSY: Tivoli Audio Music System - Not quite perfection, but pretty good

Summary: I bought this as a first release as soon as it came out--and the first box I opened had a defective unit. The replacement works fine, but the sound quality isn't quite what I thought it would be--I think I've been spoiled by my old Model One table radio, which sounds a little crisper and cleaner. This system is still light years ahead of most competing units.
Incredible visual and sound presentation, but lacks convenience

Summary: First of all, I agree with other reviewers who complain about the high price. When it was $599 back in 2007 I figured I would wait until it came down in price. So I was a bit dismayed, to say the least, when the price went in the opposite direction. The audiophile in me wanted the darn thing, so I went onto Ebay and bought a slightly used one for just under $500. (The owner claimed that he had it for only a few days, and the receipt he sent me seems to confirm that.
Summary: I ordered this model from Amazon in December just before Tivoli raised the prices to ridiculous levels. I paid $699 for mine and while I was awaiting delivery (it ended up being back ordered) Tivoli raised the prices by about 50 percent or more on their various models. Frankly, I think the version I bought was pretty pricey before the big markup in January of this year.
Summary: Tivoli either doesn't plan to sell many of these or will have to come down on the price--not that it's necessarily overpriced. As a musician, reviewer, and constant listener I can attest that the Tivoli engineers' "tuning" of the sound leaves little to be desired. Evenness across the sonic spectrum, balance, "tightness," crispness, fullness, richness, naturalness and presence--more in evidence than ever.
