Summary: sony never falls to deliver with great sound from these mini hi fi systems. this is my second in 16 years. still love them. just don't expect to host a large basement party with it. but you probably will tick off your neighbors if you live in an apartment complex.
This should suit most of my needs quite adequately.

Summary: This does not have the sound quality of a high end stereo of course - I did not expect it to, but it very well meets my need of something to play my cd's on, which also accommodates my downloaded music on my I-Pod. It is far superior to the smaller shelf system I had previously. Radio reception is quite good also - much better than many I have used in the past. I expect a quality product from Sony, and would consider this a quality product.
Summary: Not fancy, but good sound quality and gets the job done. Does not have bass or treble controls but does have several equalizer profiles to choose from to match your music (pop/rock, jazz, etc.). The remote is an added bonus.
Summary: For such a little stereo, this one packs a punch. It has great sound and and can be made quite loud, for those who like to do so. The design is cool, I like the black and blue and the big brushed metal volume control knob (though, I usually use the remote.) I'm glad it doesn't have any unnecessary glows or anything, like some stereos do. I like that the speakers have actual plugs, instead of the wires you have to push into the back that a lot of shelf systems have.
Summary: I read all the ratings on this product at Amazon.com prior to purchasing this product. I haven't purchased a stereo product for over 20 years. The last home stereo product I had purchased was a Kenwood, with multiple components. I've found that stereo's have become much smaller over the years. Well, I was amazed at how good this unit sounds. I agree with most of the ratings I had read at Amazon. The bass is perfect.
Summary: I purchased this stereo about two monthes ago. I love it. It plays my iPod Touch 4g loud and clear. My only con is it is very large and I could barely fit it on my shelf. I would recommend measuring your shelf before purchasing it. The reason many reviewers said it wasn't compatible with certain iPods or iPhones is because the box is outdated and says it is only compatable with older versions.
Summary: The item arrived quickly and was easy to set up. This is NOT a shelf unit, however, as it is much too big and heavy for the average book shelf. This item is a replacement for a Coby unit I had purchased a year ago and which died a rather quick death. The Sony seems much higher in quality and sound. One minor complaint would be the rather short speaker wires which limit separation.
