Summary: as others have said, the cd playing part of this product is garbage, however i must say the speaker quality is outstanding and this unit is diehard, i have been using and abusing these speakers for over 6 years and everything works fine. I use them everyday to blast music for the whole house and the big speakers give a natural high quality sound especially since it has a separate tweeter and a base....
Summary: I have had this unit two years plugged into my tv and have had nothing but frustration. I have all the same complaints about the system and playing cd's as listed here by everyone else, i.e., loads the cd's really slow, won't shuffle, etc. Oh, and sometimes it will not recognize it has a cd, then the next time around it will - (what's up with that?).
Summary: I've always been told to say something nice about someone or something if you have criticisms. So, the sound from this system is good. BUT - - - it doesn't go from CD to CD, has no mute button, and is very slow responding to the remote. The next CD player we buy will only do CD's and not DVD's as well. I want something that works well with the functions I need, without extras that I don't need - - - but that seem to interfere with its basic functions!
What are you guys talking about, this system is AWESOME!!!

Summary: I bought this sharp stereo not too long ago,and was incredibly impresed in the sound it makes! There's a "surround" feature that only works when playing DVD's and CD's that makes it sound like it echoes! The bass is hair blowing(sometimes literaly if you put your hand or face in front of the subwoofer), and I'm VERY surprised people gave it a bad review!I almost didn't buy this stereo because of the bad reviews!
Summary: I recently bought the XL-DV60 "5-CD/DVD Changer" & was very disappointed that it stops playing after it finishes each CD. You have to manually advance to the next. It also does not shuffle between CDs. I am totally incredulous that Sharp would release such a product! I find it substandard design and deceptive marketing. Thouugh the sound qualiy is good, I would never recommend this product to anyone. If I had not thrown out the box I would have returned it immediately!
Almost neat - but step backwards: no daily alarm/no audio out/don't loose remote!

Summary: This unit has lots of features and great value to like. Almost bought it... I was looking for a shelf system that actually was shallow enough to fit on my bookshelf (what's with the 15" deep "shelf" systems - hello!). My Sharp HP500 is great, EXCEPT the lame alarm clock which has to be resetup each day!
Summary: I agree with Jaya Schillinger, for the same reasons. I purchased the unit to use as a 5-disc CD changer. Actually, I had to return the first one, which was defective. As Jaya says, it's like having a single-disc CD player. In addition, I have difficulty playing CDs which I burned myself. Fortunately, I can return it to Best Buy, which I'm doing tomorrow.
Summary: it has one BIG advantage over the other brands. At least from my tests in-store, it appears to be one of the only ones to play mp3 DVDs (not just CDs). That's a big deal because you can cram 4.7 gigs of mp3 data and play it on here! With THAT feature you wouldn't need the 5-disc changer and the 1-disc random feature would be fine. Something to consider...
Summary: Well I connected this system to my television and cable box 2 days ago. I was really pleased with the look of it. It was also very easy to connect. I put in several CDs and DVDs to try it out. My first complaint is that it takes way tooooo long to load a disk. Everything I put in played...the first day...now there is one DVD that has dts sound and...although this is said to be a dts decoder you need an additional receiver/amplifier to hear dts.
