Summary: Pondered over this product for months. I have it in my living room. I think it looks great. Unlike some other comments i actually like the fact that most of the controls are via the remote, due to having small children there is less for them to try and touch. I have used my iphone 4 although a message does flash up at the beginning that there may be some interference due to it being a phone.
Excerpt: The Roberts Sound 53, the ‘Big Brother’ of the Sound 43, is a stylish and modern stereo system complete with a dock for your iPod, meaning you can play all your favourite songs through the amazing speakers this product provides. You also get the opportunity to record things from the radio and CD’s onto a USB or SD memory card, which is very handy when you hear something interesting and want to show it to somebody else.
Pros: Great sound quality, looks and range of features
Summary: It certainly looks the part. Good build quality, and a very full sound. Of course it will never sound as good as my old quality mini hi-fi system with separate speakers. For example, it lacks the depth and warmth that my old system provided. However, it still fills our large kitchen and conservatory with more than enough volume, even if its quality isn't as good. For its size though it is remarkable, and an awful lot cheaper than the comparable Bose system.
Summary: - prompt delivery by Amazon - was close call between this and Pure Avanti but I didn't notice any significant difference in sound when I tested them, plus preferred the look of the MP53 as well as cd function - Sound quality is important to me and this does what I expected - yes you can spend more on better sound, but this fills my open plan lounge easily with good quality audio.
Summary: Overall, I am very pleased with this item. The sound is terrific for such a small box. Great bass and stereo imaging. In my opinion this is on a par with equivalent Bose equipment but less than half the price. DAB reception is excellent. I chose to use the 'pigtail' aerial as it suited the location of the box better. Removal of the telescopic aerial was easy with the spanner provided - the wire aerial just plugs into the socket that this came from.
Summary: I ordered the Roberts Sound53 a few months ago after spending a lot of time beforehand reviewing many products. I selected this model as it has everything I was looking for - DAB radio, CD player and iPod docking - and came within my budget. It's a sleek looking compact unit, and really is a 'plug in and play' product. I've had no problems with the digital radio reception, unlike other reviewers here.
Summary: Great solution for audio if you dont wish wire and cables all over the place, functions all work sound is good looks and feels great. there is only one down side if you cant find your remote or the pixxies have taken it your stuffed.
Summary: I bought this after hearing a friend's, and it sounds just as good as I had hoped. Wonderful room filling sound. Two other people are planning to buy one having heard mine! I bought this model rather than the M43 because I liked the minimalist design, with a single on/off/volume control - but I have to say that another knob for DAB channel selection would actually be useful. The IR remote is terrible.
Summary: Having studied other reviews on Amazon for the Roberts MP53, the positive ones match my experience of the product more closely than the negative ones. The system is easy to set up and works straight out of the box. No need to tune in DAB stations etc. the system does it all for you. The controls for the CD player the Ipod dock and other elements on the remote are clear and easy to understand The sound quality is really good, better than I thought it would be.
Summary: Great product, if you, like me you are looking for a plug & play music system, for a decent price...this is it. it has a good rich sound, personaly i could do with a bit more bass & volume. But to achive that i would have to pay double the price & have the traditional design of a box with separate speakers and some spaghetti at the back, i think it is far better buy than the Bose with more features & the DAB radio is less messy & it is far cheaper.
