Summary: Having set up the device it worked perfectly, the sound is great and the DAB radio is very good. However within an hour the remote failed to respond and nothing could coax it into life - fiddling with the batteries failed, changing the batteries failed. Then suddenly it went again and equally suddenly failed again and it remains thus!!
Not professional enough-style above function-CD rubbish

Summary: On the plus side this unit looks good and feels sturdy-It works fine for radio and i-pod and sound quality is pretty good BUT..One major negative is the CD player-which is mainly why I bought it. You slide a CD into the letterbox style opening and press a button on the unit to release it. This stopped working within the first year when, although there was nothing in the machine, it wouldn't allow me to put a CD in.
Summary: I am very impressed with this product. Looks great and sounds great with many useful features to play your music wherever you have it stored. I am using it as a DAB alarm clock in the bedroom as well as a general sound system when I am working in my office (which is a corner of the bedroom) and it is excellent for both uses.
Summary: It's worth heeding the 1 and 2 star ratings about this product - the remote is truely worse than useless. As the whole system relies upon the remote, simply turning the power on can be a MAJOR annoyance. Such a shame as we love the sound quality and design. My remote has now ceased to work at all and I'm trying to get a replacement from Hughes Direct via Amazon.
Decent product absolutely ruined by terrible, unresponsive remote control

Summary: The positives of this product are well documented in the other reviews: sound quality is excellent, display is clear and bright, solid build quality, attractive unit, etc. When I was reading some of the reviews before purchasing the Roberts MP53 I noted a number of people complaining about the remote. I thought this would be a minor negative, that the remote was simply clunky and unattractive. In fact, the remote control barely functions at all.
CD player failed afer 6 months, but outstanding Amazon return service

Summary: This compact, elegant all-in-one system was just the thing I was looking for and it initially fitted the bill. I wasn't completely sold on the sound quality, a personal preference, but sounded too bass heavy, especially on radio to the point of fatiguing. The bass can be reset as low as desired though. The remote seemed fiddly, major buttons like mode and play get lost in all the others. Also as a headphone user the jack socket was at back which is very awkward.
Summary: Bought this form Amazon Market place after reading all the good reviews. It arrived 2 days later. The unit was lovely - nice looking and fantastic sound. Sadly within 24 hours the screen was dead and could not be revived. Roberts have a system in place for sorting out problems but were rather let down by their dismissive, verging on rude, customer services adviser.
