Philips WACS7000

Philips WACS7000 is a hard disk digital music audio system. It is capable to store up to 80 GB of digital music and connects to wireless stream via its 802.11g connection at a 54 Mbps rate.

Features

The WACS7000 consists of an 80 GB hard disk that enables user to store and playback up to 1500 CDs. It allows user to wirelessly stream content between Music Centre and Station. Besides that, it also provides a USB Direct for MP3 and WMA music playback. Also, it is built with a docking cradle for GoGear and iPod. User is also allowed to stream wirelessly from PC via UPnP. Other features include My Room, My Music that allows user to listen to different music in each room; Music Follows me, which allows music to be play along as user move from one room to another; and Music Broadcast for simultaneous playback to all stations. In addition, it also enables user to rip CDs with Gracenote automatic song information search. It also includes a 2-way LCD remote control with alphanumerical search. In term of sound production, it features Super Sound Panel that delivers clear and deep bass and also Class D digital amplifier for sound performance. Sound enhancements feature include Dynamic Bass Boost 3 steps, Equalizer, Incredible Surround, Treble and Bass Control and Smart Equalizer. The speaker system is capable to produce 40 Watts + 40 Watts of RMS power. It measures 608 x 175 x 303 mm in dimensions and weighs 12.93 kg.

    Everyone likes the idea of wholehouse audio. Who doesn't want the ability to access their music library in any room of their home? It's in the implementation that things get tricky. Do you invest a couple of grand in a dedicated audio server for your gear rack, plus amplification and speakers for each room and all that wire you'll have to run through the walls to connect everything?     I have had mine for around 4 months now. There was a period of getting used to it. I recommend updating the firmware as soon as you get it home - mine worked much better after that. The only downside is that once in a while, I have to reboot (unplug from the wall) the base station because the remote can't find it. Overall, I love it! I would recommend buying one. Be forewarned, this is not exactly for a luddite or a technophobe, you will have to play with it a bit. Read more
