Summary: To be very precise and honest..If you are looking for a system that only will produce a little louder voice..then you got it. If you are looking for something like quality, crispy, sharp & awesome sound, Dont even think about it. I did not get what I was expecting after reading all reviews about this system. It might be a unit for a small room. But I guess, even in small room, you might get increased loudness but not the crispness.
Summary: Purchase for son. He loves it. We had a problem within two days with the CD player. Limited support from panasonic (wanted to repair it). Returned it for a new one. This one has worked fine so far. Update: December 2011. I wanted to say that the new one has worked great for over a year now. We have had no problems at all. I think the first one just had a manufactors defect. I would purchase with confidence.
Summary: I recently purchased this item and am disappointed. I do like the sleek appearance and ease of use, but the antenna system for AM radio leaves much to be desired. No matter the location or arrangement of the wire antennas, I cannot get any decent clarity or tone. There is much static in the background and the voices are garbled. I have resorted back to using my cheap-o portable system for AM reception. But, now for the good news: playing CD's are a delight.
Summary: It is a beautiful design, great sound for a little unit, convenient that it plays radio, CD, ipod, etc. and love that it can be wall hung - pretty and discreet for a bedroom. BUT! I purchased this to replace a CD/clock radio alarm unit, and would have liked to have known that this unit DOES NOT display the time! You can use the remote to display the time, and it will momentarily display the time when you turn it on, but once you've stopped listening, i.e.
Summary: This was bought very cheaply compared to a new one, and when received it had a crack in the plastic housing near the base. It was packed so well it's unlikely to have been damaged in transit. I'm not too bothered however as the sound is great and the crack isn't easily visible so not a problem really.
Summary: I wanted an all in one system with powerfull speakers for the breakfast room but portable enough to take around the house. This seemed to fit the bill. Having several other Panasonic items (TV,stereo, microwave etc.) I expected a well made, well designed product. In every sense except the radio it is. I give it 4.5 stars for looks, build quality, sound quality and ease of use. I reserve the half star because installing a CD is bit fiddly. My gripe is the radio.
Summary: I had the previous model to this, the SC-HC3DB, which went wrong after six months and I was given my money back. I replaced it with the latest model, the SC-HC30DB. Although the units look almost identical the new model's radio is apalling. On both FM and DAB I could not get decent reception. Initially I thought it was a fault as the old model was fine in exactly the same location with the same aerial so sent it back to Amazon for a replacement.
Excerpt: I bought this Panasonic mini-stereo/MP3 player because I was tired of listening to music through my laptop speakers. Not that my speakers are so bad, they're not (I have a Mac - will review it later), but there's just no comparison between small laptop speakers and a real system. I listened to a few different models of iPod/MP3 Player docks while in the store choosing, and found the sound quality and volume of the Panasonic far superior to other models and brands in this...
