Summary: I read reviews for this product which faulted the sliding door and iPod's tendency to cut out in the middle of a tune and thought I'd give it a try anyway because I was primarily interested in the FM radio function and liked the slim profile. The FM "antenna" is a very thin long wire which - I kid you not - you are instructed to hold up against the wall in various positions until you get good reception and then TAPE IT TO THE WALL! Really?
Summary: This Panasonic SC HC 30 stereo has a nice sleek look to it, and a fairly decent sound for the price. The radio isn't up to much, but it's OK. The antennas for AM and FM look like Dollar Store items, and didn't help at all, so were discarded. The main problem is that after a few months (about 6) the CD player had a surprise for me. Stopping dead in the middle of a CD.
Summary: The sound system is great. The quality is good and it fits in well my the bedroom. I was actually considering a Bose system until I came across this one. The only drawback for me is that the FM antenna could be more powerful for reception. It has been a little over a month now and I have no regrets. Thinking on buying a second one...
Summary: First, this is a review of the SC-HC35, which they sent instead of the SC-HC30. I assume it's a newer model, but it looks the same. Anyways, the system runs just fine, sound is good. FM radio is good. However, part of the reason I was getting this was to use it as a clock radio/CD alarm. But I ran into a problem before testing that -- when you turn it to off/standby, the clock display disappears.
