Summary: After having this for about a year, I have to say that I'm still extremely pleased with this little system. It's small and doesn't take up a lot of room but has a great sound and flexibility. We have this in our bedroom and it gets a fair workout in there. Sometimes I work in there on my laptop, bluetooth connection makes for a bigger sound.
Summary: I find that this system is as good as it gets in this category -- that is mini stereo systems that support FM/CD/Digital music. I bought this specifically to go with my iPOD but didn't realize I had a gen 1 iPod Nano. Still it works, just not with the USB. This is a good stero system, and a good-looking system, and good-sounding system for the size and price point. If you want a serious stero for an entertainment room, this isn't it.
The one star applies to customer service, not the system

Summary: Don't know if I like the system yet because I am yet to hear it! Very disappointing since I ordered 2-day delivery. It arrived, and after unpacking the system and getting ready to hook it up, there were no speaker cables or footpads enclosed.. Amazon's response was for me to pack up the entire system and ship it back and then they would send a replacement system instead of shipping some speaker wires and footpads. Completely unacceptable!
I looked but didn't purchase because the Bluetooth quality was not good.

Summary: I looked at this product but did not buy it. I was in need of a stereo for a small living room and I had the following criteria: very good sound; under $500 (ideally under $400); compact enough to fit on a bookshelf; and CD - AM/FM - iPod compatibility, ideally with an auxiliary cable as well. I saw a number of items in the $100-200 range (Sony, Panasonic, etc) but the sound was quite disappointing.
Summary: I think many of the other reviewers cover the performance of the system. We bought the system to replace an old JVC mini system and we are using the speakers from another Yamaha Mini System whose speakers were a little higher end than the one with this system so not sure I could give a completely objective sound / performance review. We bought this system because it fits in the cabinet.
Summary: Contained solely within my bedroom, Owner is 77 and requires spectaculsr sound which thid product delivers. Feel that stepping up to a monster cable may increase the fidelity of general sound . still trying to hook-up to separate super bass box.() Hank Kloss did it again. I would buy this item Onkyo needs to generate more appropriate instructions.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy Controls, Great Sound, Powerful
Summary: Needed something with a small footprint. This is for the bedroom but could be used anywhere. Great sound, very impressed.. Bluetooth works great and is a cool bonus feature All in all a very good system. I am happy..
Summary: I am no techno-geek, that is my husband's department. He says the stereo has "excellent sound reproduction" from a CD. Since that is pretty much all I care about, I'm happy. Seriously, the speakers are terrific for being so small, demonstrate full range without distortion and are amazingly crisp and clear. Since I do not have any "I" pod or "M" thingies, I have not tried those media.
Summary: Just recieved my (used like new) onkyo CS-355 hi-fi mini system, it came on time and was very well packed in a box within a box from HI DEF LIFESTYLE. It looked like brand new to me, the only way you could tell was the remote and speaker wire bag were opened. I enjoy listening to quality music, due to my tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and this system has it, plus i enjoy useing the usb port, also the colors they come in, i picked the red to go with my decor.
