Logitech Squeezebox Duet Review
7 July 2010
Conclusion: Like attempting to install a home Jacuzzi, hooking up the Squeezebox Duet caused us to curse, sweat and throw our hands up in the air out of the box, but very quickly made amends as soon as it started working. To music lovers, reclining on the couch with a never-ending supply of tunes at their fingertips might actually be an even more relaxing than sitting in a stifling hot, over-chlorinated tub anyway.
Pros: Pick-up-and-play usability, Unobtrusive, attractive hardware, Excellent selection of online content, Built-in Wi-Fi, Easy to control from a computer, Third-party iPhone remote apps available
Cons: Potentially difficult setup, No DRM support, Outdated support documents, Crippled MySqueezebox.com remote control, Remote buttons not backlit
Conclusion: With its excellent software and good integration of online music services, the Squeezebox Duet wireless music system is an affordable alternative to the Editors' Choice–winning, but incredibly expensive, Sonos ZonePlayer 80.
Pros: Streams music wirelessly from PCs or Macs. Even supports Linux. Excellent onscreen graphics on remote. Robust file support. Expandable by purchasing additional receivers. Provides access to iTunes, Pandora, Rhapsody, and Slacker online music services without a computer.
Cons: Remote has long lag time and occasionally freezes up with some functions.
Summary: We like the Logitech Squeezebox Duet for its ease of use (after initial setup) and excellent audio fidelity. The controller gives you quick access to a bevy of music sources in the palm of your hand. Its limitations and setup hassles are fairly minor compared with the system’s convenience and tight integration with so many online music services.
Pros: Sleek attractive styling, Excellent audio fidelity, Works with many online music services, Easy firmware upgrades,
Cons: Not firewall friendly, Using multiple receivers can bog down network, Inadequate documentation and no on-device help,
Summary: Sonos has gone largely uncontested in the world of Wi-Fi multiroom music since its debut over two years ago. Until now, Squeezeboxes have been impressive but limited media streamers, building into basic multiroom systems that weren’t nearly as complete or integrated as the Sonos solution. All that changes with the Duet.
Conclusion: Zaključak Uzevši sve zajedno u obzir, možemo reći da je Logitech solidno razradio koncept kućnog svirača digitalne glazbe i radija. Jednostavno se koristi (iako ne nužno i jednostavno instalira), dobro je opremljen i atraktivan, te se više ovakvih sustava može umrežavati – ukratko, sve ono što se od jednog svirača ovakve svrhe očekuje. No glavni problem ovog uređaja nije njegova kvaliteta, već cijena.
Pros: Kvaliteta izrade i zvuka, opcija bežičnog i žičnog umrežavanja, jednostavno korištenje, razrađeno sučelje i daljinski upravljač.
