It is capable of joining most WPA and WEP protected wireless networks. The Duet features cross platform support and works with Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
The Logitech Squeezebox Duet is composed of the Squeezebox receiver (which can be wired or wireless) and the Squeezebox remote control.
The Squeezebox receiver measures 6.2 x 4.4 x 1.2 inches and comes in glossy black. The receiver has only one backlit button in the front that indicates wireless status. At the back are the power port, Ethernet port and several audio output options. It has the standard RCA output jacks as well as an optical and coaxial hi-fi digital S/PDIF audio out ports. The Squeezebox receiver also supports 802.11g wireless connectivity and features dual antennas for better wireless range.
The Squeezebox controller measures 5.75 x 2 x 0.75 inches and, like the receiver, comes in high gloss black. The remote features an LED backlit 2.4 inch TFT LCD that runs at a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels with support for up to 256k colors. It has a physical scroll wheel as well as buttons for adjusting volume, controlling music playback and navigating through the menu system.
See lessSome new devices are a pain to set up and then once you’re done leave you wondering if your time was well spent. That’s how I often feel about setting up a new PC: it takes a lot of work and afterword I’ll have pretty much what I started with, only in a little faster form. There are, however a few devices that take some effort to set up, but then give you give you results that make all the effort seem worthwhile. The iPhone is like that, and so is the Logitech... There are quite a few solutions on the market for wireless digital audio. When Logitech acquired Slim Devices a couple years ago, they jumped into the fray with the Squeezebox line of products. Logitech quickly turned out their own twist on the product line, the Squeezebox Duet. We've had one in the HT Guys lab for quite a while and recently got the chance to plug it in, power it on and give it a listen. According to the Logitech Website, the Squeezebox Duet lets you... Logitech leveraged their ability to stream audio to customers with their acquisition of Slim Devices two years ago. The Squeezebox™ Duet enables users to stream their favorite audio content from their personal collection, online services (Pandora and Rhapsody) and thousands of Internet radio stations. The system supports a wide variety of non-DRM content including compressed formats (MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, MP2, MusePack, WMA) and uncompressed formats (AIFF, WAV, PCM).... Read more
You've had ample time to mull over the specs and even take a glance at Logitech's Squeezebox Duet on video , but if you've still been holding off until a legitimate review gave you the final thumbs-up, here goes. According to CNET , this network digital audio system has a remote worth swooning over, very satisfactory file support and a certain charm that's only truly experienced when tuning into internet radio stations (yeah, it does that too). 'Course, not everything... Read more
Firmware Upgrade Makes Squeezebox Duet Sing Nice job with the firmware upgrade, Logitech! When we first reviewed the baby Squeezebox five months ago (issue 16.06), we weren't totally impressed — the device seemed difficult to use. Well, we've changed our tune. The Duet now connects your computer's music library to your stereo with kindergarten ease and MIT smarts. Setup is a snap — we were piping our favorite songs all over the house in minutes. But what really won... Read more
the product is an awesome alternative the more expensive sonos. I have it wired to play in the living room and the outdoor patio area. It was very user friendly to set up on the computer and to use the remote. I picked it up for a very good price on amazon. for someone who wants music in multiple rooms at a good price, this is your unit. we now can listen to music from all over the world many for free. "Just a lot of fun to control all my music with a wireless remote. All my CDs are on my PC plus I subscribe to Rhapsody. Setup for me was easy and the controller is exceptional. This is the best value for the money. Now I need the Boom for outdoors. The headphone jack is not advertised with the product so I didn't buy it for that feature. But now I want it to work because its there. I'll just have to wait for Logitech to work it out." Read more
This is actually ''the'' toy I've been looking for. It links your computer media info to any remote location. My computer is a dedicated media system used for music only and I wanted a remote access for the kitchen. + Interface is very easy to use + Lots of flexibility in customizing menus + You can even access it from your computer to change parameters and do searches (easier to search radio stations with a full keyboard) + contrary to music bridges, you can use this... The Duet + my PC has become my favorite way to play music at home. I am listening to more (and different) music than ever. My CD players have been sitting idle. I am ripping my CD collection to .flac files and transmitting them to my Duet via a wireless network. I have a good external DAC, so I am passing the SB receiver's digital output to the DAC. I anticipate getting another SB receiver, so I can run 2 systems, one upstairs (headphone rig) and my main system... Read more
I've got a Squeezebox 3 as well as a Duet, and it's a great piece of kit, but it always lacked in the display department....now the Duet has sorted that out. Great ease of use and fantastic screen. If you have a little patience and a small amount of knowledge this will be easy to set up (even easier if you're already running Slimserver). Sound quality is just as good as the SB3 - the analog outs are of decent quality, and if you're after more fidelity you can always used... Read more
