Worked great but not for long

  • Excerpt: Unit did exactly what I wanted...provided a way to rip my old casette tapes to the PC as MP3s (similar to the way I converted all of my LPs several years ago). Unit worked great, better and easier than expected, for the first 7 tapes...then the recording head on the unit went belly up. With ION's tech support, I was able to confirm that it was a unit problem and not something in my computer settings.
  • Pros: Does what I expected, Easy to use
  • Cons: Quality

Unexpected disappointment.

  • Excerpt: I am plesed to be invited for comments, to be able to air my views about this product. I received everything in good order, thanks. The recorder/player works OK (sofar; I have not run it much)but the softwear does not function at all! I can hear the player in the computer until I plug in the USB connector. Then I hear only distorted noise. I set everything on my PC (Vista) as instructed, checking it several times, to no avail!
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Clean Sound, Durable

BIG Disappointment-ALREADY RETURNED!

Walmart
30 March 2010
  • Summary: I was really looking forward to using this product. I have a large library of Cassettes I wanted to turn to CD/MP3. I got the unit home and within an hour, the tapes started wowing/fluttering and going slow. It wasn't the tapes as I have 4 other cassette players that none had the problem of playing the same tape in. Also, unless you are a time expert, with the way the software is set up, it's a guessing game for the beginning of every song you split tracks on.

Ion Tape2PC USB Cassette Deck

MichaelW.Mctea gue, Rate it all!
28 August 2009
  • Summary: When recording the tape player plays at a slow speed distorting the sound. One of the decks works somewhat better than the other, but, neither is as accurate as my cassette deck. The other features; tracking , titling and transferring worked great.

Not the best sound quality

  • Excerpt: I was excited at first to receive the product and find how easy it was to use. Set up was plug and play and getting songs from tapes to an MP3 was fast and painless however the sound quality is NOT good. I was disappointed to hear all of the static and artifact that takes away from the sound. After repeating the upload process several times using several different tapes I concluded that this device is unable to produce a decent quality MP3 from the tapes.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Easy Controls
  • Cons: Poor Sound

Disappointed

A. Lincoln "Colorado", Amazon

  • Summary: I had high hope for this conversion from tape to CD, but it didn't work as I had hoped. After tinkering many times with gain, etc, the sound quality was terrible. I finally used the machine to transfer to other diskettes, which worked much better. Not perfect, but much better.
