Excerpt: Bought this to convert a library of cassettes to digital format. Product is ok but you can't expect Nakkamici quality for $90. This is replacing a 32 year old well made Akai deck which I can no longer get parts for and fix. The CD that comes with the unit says to go to the website to download the latest version of the software. Beware, I believe I got a Trojan virus on my machine from this software. It's pretty basic anyway and I have since replaced with Audacity.
Excerpt: We have converted over 75 hours using this cassette deck. Deck and software were very easy to install and operate. Deck not sturdy, buttons and controls feel loose and often don't engage on first attempt. Only around 80% of cassette tapes played okay in this deck, but played in other decks. Sound quality low, had to record using much higher gain than should have required. Resulted in noisy, distorted sound.
Excerpt: I have been converting cassettes to MP3's and it has been laborious at best, until I got this ION device. It has made the transition from tape to hard drive smooth. My only wish would be a better software package, but it will do.
Excerpt: From the very first tape, it dragged and wobbled. I tried several other tapes, but to no avail. It's very cheaply made. The tape drive mechanism is very unstable. Even the buttons are flimsy when engaged. This is a dual tape machine and the main problem was with the Tape 1 side. But it totally defeats the purpose of why I purchased it. I have since returned it, because in my view it's an inferior product.
Summary: I have had this product for several months now. Works, but has kinks. Not a bad buy. I can covert cassettes to cds, recordings from others devices, and formats to cd as well. Thinking about adding a 20 band equalizer to system to adjust sound. Process may be a little time consuming but fun. Got my monies worth already.
