Summary: I bought the stereo based on the Harman Kardon reputation for quality and workmanship. I was disappointed to receive a defective product, however Amazon was more than accommodating in arranging a speedy exchange. Upon receiving the second unit last week, I discovered the volume control does not function. After repeated voicemails and unanswered emails, Harman Kardon customer service was not sympathetic or helpful regarding the problems with their products.
Summary: Just purchased my first stereo in YEARS! I went with Harmon Kardon due to it's reputation and have not been disappointed. The sound is incredible. The look is sleek and modern. It's simple to use. It's integration with my iPhone is simple. Thrilled to have purchased it. The only thing I would change is better connectivity to a turntable.
Summary: the first unit arrived and the FM receiver was broken. i got so far as unpacking the speakers on the second unit and all the mounting scews were missing such that the speaker fell right out of the speaker box. am going to try one more exchange to see if i get a unit that actually works. but hopes are not high. i have uploaded a picture of the broken speaker immediately as it appeared upon unpacking. will update this review once the third unit is received.
Summary: Pros: Setup is simple/easy, looks incredible, sounds incredible and a plethora of inputs from which to choose. Con: My only complaint is that if you lose the remote there is no way to change your playback source. Such is the price for such a beautiful system.
Summary: I was seeking a very compact near audiophile quality bookshelf stereo system that would replace my old massive 1970s oversized receiver and speakers while still retaining the ability to hook up a turntable and just about any other peripheral component including an IPOD. I also wanted a slick design with minimal knobs and buttons and compact speakers that still sounded way beyond their size in my den. H/K succeeded very well.
Fantastic sound quality, slightly outdated audio source inputs, very expensive

Summary: The Harman Kardon MAS 102 sounds fantastic. The closest speaker system that I have that can compare to is the Harman Kardon GO + Play II. In fact, I feel like the two systems sound similar, with the GO + Play II being a little boomier and less clear in the lower frequencies. I'm not an audiophile, so I don't have the vocabulary or discerning ears to really tell you what makes the MAS 102 sound amazing, but it does.
Summary: Design - It's very sleek, attractive and compact, but during unpacking I found a total of 3 cracks in the speaker cases around the back ports. (I have uploaded images showing these.) This to me is unacceptable for the price a consumer will be paying and lowers my opinion of the system greatly. Additionally I do not think these cracks were due to packing because it was packed very well.
Very good system, but missing some things for the price

Summary: The Harman Kardon MAS 102 Compact, Integrated Music System is a surprisingly nice sound system. I would be happy having this as my sound system in a smaller sized room, but Harman Kardon made some curious decisions that dampen my enthusiasm just a bit, especially considering the premium price. First the positives: - Fit, finish, and build seem first rate. The speakers cabinets and CD/radio unit were particularity nice, with a solid high gloss piano black finish.
