Great Shelf System

Tom M, Amazon
6 June 2013
  • Summary: Love it. Great sound, it's more than enough for large rooms I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great sounding shelf system. FM radio sounds great but a little difficult to program, but once set up it's awesome.

out of stock

Gene, Amazon

  • Summary: this unit was out of stock so i was shipped the newer 39S. Teh 39s is well built and designed. the sound from the brown burr DAC is clear and sweet. The speakers are surprising ly good for their size although i am using Polk T15 speakers because I had then there and give a litttle more bass. I am using this in my bedroom , mostly with the USB flash drive for a large variety in songs.I have enjoyed the full rich sound it gives on a daily basis.

Good but not good enough

White Rat, Amazon
16 November 2012
  • Summary: I admit up front that my expectations were probably too high. After all, I was paying several hundred dollars for a Denon product, and all I was asking was for it to fill a small computer room with music. Heck, the speakers are only a few feet from my head. I even bought a powered subwoofer to go with it to help with the lows.

User Review

mike k. a Audio Enthusiast, Audio Review
8 May 2012
  • Summary: IMHO, its just plain fantastic and has no right to be as good as it is for its cost! This Denon DM-38 S with factory speakers replaces the separates I had from well known respected mfg's., which took up to much space in my living room. Is this little Denon comparable? NO, but on the other hand its so musical and "right", and enjoyable to listen to, that I don't feel to deprived.

Great Performance for the Money

Pete Sarin, Amazon
19 February 2012
  • Summary: In short - buy the Denon DM38. I have the Bose Wave Radio / CD Player but wanted something with more power and clarity. After researching "bookshelf" units, I purchased the Denon DM38. I am so glad that I did. I am an audiophile and am lucky enough the listen to music 10-12 hours per day between my office and home. My home stereo system components put me back over $8,000 so I wanted an office unit that had the ability to make me happy at work.

I Love My Denon D-M38

Ali Sh., Amazon
26 January 2012
  • Summary: I love the little Denon D-M38. Not having owned a real Hi-Fi system before, the $400 was a bit steep, but I'm pretty happy with my choice. I'll try to provide some pros and cons I've noticed. See "Other Notes" for some important information as well. You can also see my video reviews on YouTube (you have to search since links are not allowed): 1- "Denon D-M38 | Main Unit, Speakers, and Remote" 2- "Denon D-M38 | Functionality and Options" Pros: 1- Great sound.

Superb for the money

wiser consumer, Amazon
25 January 2012
  • Summary: Actually, I own the DM37S but it's the same except for the USB port. I owned a very similar Yamaha product prior to this that had more capability but its speakers were inferior and the remote was a marvel of confused thinking. Though the included speakers are enjoyable and remarkable for their size, I upgraded to a pair of Cambridge Audio S30s and enjoyed an even more remarkable small speaker.
