Reviews and Problems with Bose Wave music system II

Unreliable cd player
Summary: Unreliable cd player. Sound is decent (although not the equivalent of a good large speaker stereo). I bought it for the portability - I use it in several different rooms for listening to music and hook it to my TV for movies and concerts. However, the cd-playing technology is anything but robust. I upgraded to System II when the cd player failed on my earlier model Bose (you get the choice of paying for repairs by Bose, no one else, or upgrading at a discount).
Summary: We bought this after having a huge system for years and enjoying the sounds only they can provide. We knew the smaller unit likely wouldn't match the incredible range - especially bass - of a big stereo system. However, after years of wires and cables. etc. - we opted for smaller. The sound is wonderful - clear and precise. No, it isn't the same as the "huge system" but, we're very pleased with this amazing little unit.
Summary: For anyone complaining about bass and treble controls, haven't you heard of software? You can control this stuff with something like iTunes. There's a ton of useful tools out there. You just have to look to find them. Think outside the box.
Summary: Average sound quality (WAY below average if one considers the price), No bass or treble controls. Apparently the Bose engineers don't much care how the consumer would like the music to sound. No clock. And the information panel listing the radio station or CD track information is on the top!! If you happen to be sitting down enjoying the music any pertinent info isn't visible. BRILLIANT!! Accessories ridiculously overpriced. Buyer beware with this unit.
It DOES put out some very good sound for it's size

Summary: Okay, first off I think I expected way too much from this surprisingly small unit. It DOES put out some very good sound for it's size, but it does NOT rival larger home stereos, at least not what I'm used to listening to. Next, the control panel is cheap looking and feeling... nothing to catch the eye. My old boom box from the 80's looked cooler than this does. It's easy to operate at least. Also, unless I just haven't found it yet, there is no equalizer!
