Reviews and Problems with Symantec Norton Utilities

No King Kong, but it tries to help clean your computer ... given the software limits.

Summary: Yes, this Utility software will function with 8.1 Windows (HP Laptop), but is not as effective in cleaning the operating system as other "aggressive" software tools (maybe for the better .... could crash system otherwise). The functionality is questionable; in other words, when operating the performance program, the performance indicator does not reflect correction input - I believe the limits of the program to correct given errors is restricted by the operating system...
Summary: I use Windows 8.1 64 bit as a virtual system using the Linux Mint Operating System LTS which is based on Ubuntu 12.04. I wanted to cleanup Windows 8.1 as I detected some registry problems wherein I did not want to do much more manual editing than I had. I installed Norton Utilities, and as always it did a superb job of correcting the registry errors.
Summary: I continually get an annoying error message. "core products have been modified." "....Please reinstall". Support options are overwhelming and I really don't want to spend time trying to find an answer. I also have there 360 security suite and it appears to have many feature redundancy (ex. both defrag, registry, clean browser history).
For the price this is good software to fix basic system issues

Summary: Does not correct all of the issues. For the price this is good software to fix basic system issues. I have found that the software does not clean history thoroughly. I have had to do that manually in order to clean out all of history and temporary files. I recommend the day to day user shop for software that has a few more features to repair disk space and registry.
but I have found other features just as useful. Rating

Summary: I bought it mostly for the feature that allows me to seek out duplicate files. I think a lot of people could use that feature to clean up home computers. I haven't done much with that cleanup yet, but I have found other features just as useful. Rating: Worth every penny.... just like the other Norton products I've used in the past and still use on a total of five systems.
