Summary: I was supposed to get a $40 prepaid visa card rebate with the purchase of this product. When I tried to use it, just days after I received it in the mail, the card only had $33 on it. Last time I buy a symantec product with any kind of rebate.
Summary: If you have a slow desktop behind a router with a firewall (on). I would not recommend this. If you have a laptop that you use wireless, I believe this is a fantastic choice.
Pros: Big improvement over previous versions with more settings that can be turned off and on. Didn't need firewall end of product but was able to turn it off with some ease. Each time I buy this product I learn more about security.
Cons: My computers still took a performance hit with this product.
Summary: I was a Norton fan until about the late 90's when it took up way too much memory to run on PC's in those days. I used other products until my company required the use of a name brand product in order to connect to their servers.
Pros: Idle Scan is great. Not as much of a resource hog as in past versions. Real time monitoring.
Cons: Norton expects you to open a Norton account for some reason. They do not make it easy for you to skip over that part, but it can be done. I think you just close the window at that point in the install. An accout should be optional.
Pros: I have NEVER had any slow down of my internet speed. It finds viruses and tracking cookies other antiviruses miss. As for removal on any Norton AV product, they have a removal tool available. symantec.com/nrt takes you right to the DL page.
Summary: I have owned this product for approximately 3 months now and seems to be doing great. I also use this on my kid's computers to lock down sites that I don't want them on. Didn't buy this from Newegg but I use Newegg a lot and this is a good price for this product.
Pros: Can be installed on 3 computers in your home. You have control over the many scanning options and capabilities of the software. Comes with "family" monitoring software so that you can control what your kids have access to online.
Cons: Small increase in load time after your OS is up and running. I believe this to be typical with most all antivirus software however.
Summary: Its just me - but I think, one user - one program for ALL my machines. The world wants MO money so you get limited use. Oh Well.
Pros: 3 computer pack - thank you world. Works great. Does not jam up my games and lock out sites/computer and I am lost. It's the entire suite, so you can have or block anything you want. One of the better Software packages doing this job. (Norton used to suck - they got their act together).
