Summary: I uninstalled it after these misses and installed something better.
Pros: none sorry to say norton and mcafee just a name
Cons: Computer was running real slow so a Friend Ran a eset online scanner and it found 5 infections one of which was a worm virus and also ran malwarebytes and it found 62 spyware and virus infections. Scan your computer with them and you might be surprised on what the big dog name antivirus guys miss.
Summary: i'm a mac user, so i dont have to deal w/ AV, but i have the dubious distinction of being the "family tech support" guy for my parents and in-laws. Bottom line is Symantec is making it very, very difficult for people to not renew through the software.
Pros: Is the software that it claims to be
Cons: Bear of an install process. Symantec uninstaller wouldnt work.
Summary: I would never recommend this product. Or, more accurately, I would not wish this horror upon even my worst enemies. I use Kaspersky on my main computer and usually recommend Security Essentials. Listed this on an auction website, no one's bought it.
Pros: Shipping was fast I guess
Cons: -SLOW! Brings the computer to an absolute crawl! I know the fanboys are all "Norton has been better in recent years!" but it's complete bologna. Tear Norton off a computer and suddenly it screams. If the speed issues aren't enough, then the tightness of the security is. They take the stance of "d...
Summary: 13% of i7-2600K is just terrible - this with SSDs, too
Pros: Price (0) after Rebate
Cons: I had been very happily using NAV 2010 for 2+ years. For new build, I got NAV2012. All seemed well, modest CPU use and temps about 30-32C. Then after about 3 weeks of trial, I entered the key. My brother entered key at same time. His meak laptop started struggling. My temps were 48-50C and found ...
Summary: Look, this product is designed for the gullible consumer that does not know any better and thinks they are getting something cheap and reliable. This program in time will bog down even the fastest computer, why do you think so many people uninstall it?
Pros: It works sort of, but you will pay the price in the long run.
Summary: I am an A+ certified IT computer technician. There are many programs that run better, run safer, and generally do a better job than Norton. Many of us nerds call Norton a virus itself.
Pros: It works well for those who barely know how to turn on a computer. It has pretty pictures
Cons: This program will assimilate into your system making it quite difficult to remove, on some computers it may even crash them after you remove it. Virus's often get through, Norton makes it nearly impossible to use any other outside tools to fix a computer. The company that owns Norton, releases vi...
Summary: cant believe new egg sells this. sad day.
Pros: only pro here is its 5 bucks
Cons: at my work we treat norton as a virus. what it does to your computer and registry is equivalent to a virus. you cant just remove it from the control panel, it gets its gritty little hands in everything, including the registry. you have to use a special removal tool (just like a virus). this "soft...
Summary: I feel like I've been scammed. After their software failed to protect my system and failed to fix the problem they wanted more than TWICE as much more to fix the problem they let happen. My first Norton product came on an 5.25 floppy disk, NO MORE, this is the last Norton product for me.
Pros: Was able to upgrade to 2012 from 2011 online.
Cons: Didn't work, let my system get infected. Couldn't stop of find the problem but M!@^*soft's basic security programs found the infection. Their Foreign (err. Tech) Support made me wait for over an hour only to tell me the only option the could offer was to charge me more money.
