Norton Finally Does Something Right

Matthew D., Newegg
21 July 2009
  • Summary: I've also used NOD32, Avast, Kaspersky and BitDefender in the past, before finally settling on this.
  • Pros: First of all , I would like to say that I have hated just about every past Norton Program. Apparently they finally started listening to their customers. -Starts Quickly -Low Resource Usage (even when not in gaming mode) -Unobtrusive Interface
  • Cons: The memory of every past Norton product i've used. Other than that, none.

james s., Newegg

  • Summary: I researched for a while to find the most gamer friendly antivirus and all the non biased reviewers agree it's this product by a long shot. Loads of options and great protection. Easily comprehensible interface and ships with instruction booklet.
  • Pros: Loads up in less than a miunte. New Egg's impeccable service. Cheaper than Norton's website. Gamer mode...nuff said.
  • Cons: NONE! NONE! NONE!

  • Pros: Love the new GUI and quick scanning. Fast install and very low system resource usage. Much better than Trend Micro.

pnghiem, PriceGrabber
5 June 2009
  • Summary: In the last few years as a long time users of Norton's products, I have reluctantly switched to other antivirus programs because Norton Antivirus was well-known as a resource hog.
  • Pros: New and improved; fast; lean and easy to install.
  • Cons: Haunted by previous resource hog versions.

Major improvement

MiKeyes1, PriceGrabber
5 June 2009
  • Summary: Expert reviews of this product have shown it to be significantly better than most at detecting and removing malware. Although this has traditionally been true of NAV, past versions have earned a well-deserved reputation for slowing down whatever system they were installed on.
  • Pros: Doesn't hog resources like older NAV did. Very frequent signature updates. Scans during idle time. Simple, clean user interface. Works well with Windows 7 RC. Does its job very well.
  • Cons: Difficult to temporarily disable/shutdown.

Awesome

Anonymous, Newegg
31 March 2009
  • Summary: I also love the 3 computer code for multiple PCs way cheaper than buying 3 seperate copies.
  • Pros: Low CPU usage. I love the interface and the ability to monitor the network. Shows your CPU usage and tells you how much of that is being used by Norton. The flash updates are great too.
  • Cons: none

Not as bad as older Norton

Michael S., Newegg
30 March 2009
  • Summary: slowest machine I am running this product on would be an old p4 1.8Ghz with 512MB of Ram. XP pro and it runs like a dream.... I swear!
  • Pros: Unlike Norton products in the past (especially Norton Internet Security) these programs would just bog down your system. Seemed like anythign without 2GB's couldn't hang with any norton anti-virus. Well Norton Listened to their customers because this product has very low requirments and runs very...
  • Cons: Very happy with this product.
