Pros: I bought this for my parents use. They don't know much about computers and as such are frequently getting into spots of trouble on the internet. This has done a good job protecting their computer.
Cons: I find Norton to be pretty conspicuous, and it seems to slow down the machine.
Summary: Great improvement from what Symantec was before (though I never had Symantec before but from what I know they were pretty bad)
Pros: Key features:Registry Cleaner, Disk Optimizer, Anti-Virus/Spam, Backup (though I havent used it so dont know how it really is) Doesnt seem to be a resource hog and has eliminated some viruses that my other softwares missed Also can be used on 3 PCs
Cons: High price? (Hence the 4/5, seems a bit high but if price is ignored than this software has done a great job for me) Was $80 when I bought it
Summary: Norton makes a good product. That I give to them. But the whole rebate thing left me with a bad view of them. It just seems like another example of a company that will find anyway to get as much money as they can from the consumer.
Pros: Norton has definitely stepped up their game in the previous years. The interface is easier to use, Installation was easy and overall virus protections seems to be on point. Overall a good AV product for those considering to purchase
Cons: Never thought I complain about this but I dont like it. The rebate. When I purchased this product it came with a $45 rebate. Hence the purchase becomes free. Technically no. The rebate is in the form of a VISA debit card. Meaning you dont get the cash back to maybe save or put toward your newegg ...
Summary: For years I would not touch any program with the norton name due to very bad experiences in the past (found viruses it couldn't fix, constant pop-ups trying to sell their other products, resource hog, etc.), but now, glad to report that they have their act together now.
Pros: unobtrusive, uses very little resources, lots of neat features.
I Use Norton 360 on Wife's and a entertain center computer

Summary: I use Norton Internet Security on my own desktop while using 360 on my wife's and a intertainment computer hooked to the TV. While some feel that Norton is a resource hog, that is in the past. I have never noticed a slowdown or interferance while using Norton.
Pros: In addition to Norton's Internet Ssecurity and Virus programs, 360 provides automatic cleaning for non-technical users that do not know how to do this on their own. I don't have to worry about checking these computers regularly to make sure everything is OK. Easy to install and update. I like the...
Cons: Cost Support could be better. Some features are built in to Win7 like defrag. Password manager should be cloud based for use on multiple computers.
Summary: In the interest of full disclosure: I am a Symantec Employee. Also, this is installed on a fairly beefy system, quad core proc at 3ghz 8gb RAM and 2 Raptor drives in RAID 0 running Wn 7 64 bit.
Pros: Excellent system protection. Easy to install, easy to use and manage.
Cons: Does some things slightly unexpected, like adding symbols to picture preview/icons to mark those files as protected. This was slightly annoying because it was not obvious where this change came from.
Summary: Ram is cheap people. This isn't nearly as bad on memory as people make it out to be. If this is bogging down your computer then you should seriously consider an upgrade.
Pros: Really an all in one program. Does just about everything you need it to do. Way easier on system resources than previous versions of norton. Just sits in the background and does what it is supposed to do.
Cons: Default firewall settings are really annoying. Be prepared to mess around with that for half an hour, or just disable it altogether and use the windows firewall.
If you want something to help you go from <30se start-up to 4min this is for you
15 September 2007
Summary: Newegg is great. Is there any chance for becoming a publicly traded company?
Pros: It is a fair security package, it has everything a home user needs. And if you are not bothered the fact that it handles you as a computer illiterate, well this is for you.
Cons: Norton Internet Security 2006 1min20 sec to startup. Uninstall it, PC starts up in less than 30sec. Install Norton 360 and you're looking at minutes (4) until you can do something with your PC. If this doesn't bother you it can make you feel safe ...
Summary: Many of these reviews here are by people who are lacking in knowledge. This is not a Vista compatable product (MFE, CA and others in same boat). MS did not release the kernel to any security SW companies while developing Vista as they are trying to wedge themselves into the market space - THIS IS A...
Pros: Easy folks. I have used many different SW security suites over the years (CA, MFE, Norten, etc). This is the most user friendly interface and complete package on the market. It has many features and advance controls (read your manual for you whiners). Small footprint, operates in background.
Cons: Not sure I really have any. People making uneducated reviews like many listed here. This is the most reliable and stable product on the market. Much smaller footprint than either CA or MFE.
