"Overall good product"
12 April 2009
Pros: I was using bitdefender and it stunk. It found less viruses than kaspersky and blocked all internet in my house. kaspersky fixed those problems and finds and quarantines viruses like crazy. Firewall and interface is good.
Cons: It often finds more false positives than most other antiviruses. Scaning could be a little faster. parental controls are useless[not a problem for most people though like me]. IT CAN BE VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND IF YOU HAVE OR HAD A VIRUS.
"Great detection rates, but results hard to interpret."
8 February 2009
Pros: 1) Great detection rates 2) Nice User Interface 3) Virtual Keyboard quite useful.
Cons: 1) Virus scan results are hard to interpret. You don't even understand whether the file has been deleted or not. 2) Causes constant system restarts when accompanied with Online Armor firewall or Copernic Desktop Search.
Pros: It does a good job of doing what it is supposed to do, keeping your PC safe and clean.
Cons: The new interface took a little time to get used to. It was pretty confusing at first. Like the editor's comment, I too don't understand why after a scan it doesn't take you to some kind of scan results screen.
Pros: Excellent live tech support based in the USA. They pay attention to user suggestions and incorporate them into the new product. Free update to new version during license period. Does not slow down your computer.
Cons: Integration with Mozilla's Thuderbird email is a bit spotty. False positives tend to involve "not-a-virus" being identified incorrectly,
Summary: I much enjoyed in 2008 KIS version 7.0 and am about to upgrade to 2009. Your article in Cons says KIS "Leaves behind registry file after uninstall". but in article you mention the left behind as AVG which KIS then provided a tool to remove. So do you really mean that KIS left behind AVG?
Pros: Seems fast and not bloated
Cons: I'd agree your comment re lack of some features
