Acts like beta software.

Michael R., Newegg
29 April 2014
  • Summary: In my 32 years in IT I've never seen a beta of any software with this many problems, much less something being sold to the public as a solution. When I clean an old machine without antivirus or sell a new machine, I want to install an antivirus solution and get it back to the customer, not spend several hours configuring it to work with whatever programs might fight it and pray that I got them all.
  • Pros: Inexpensive when on sale every couple weeks. They have a great uninstall tool even though it takes forever to complete. Always remember to use an antivirus' uninstall tool before installing a new antivirus solution.
  • Cons: I purchased several licenses and initial testing went well with some speed bumps, such as Ccleaner locking up the machine when set for secure deletion of temp files. Just add Ccleaner to the exceptions list in bitdefender and it will work fine. When I started putting it on customers' PC's is when I began to see that 3 out of 4 machines began experiencing all sorts of weird problems from slowing to a crawl, locking up programs, blocking FTP access, and on one the inabi...

Bitdefender -Problematic on older Machines

J P., Newegg
5 April 2014
  • Summary: First of all KUDOs to Newegg Customer Service for going above and beyond expectations when I had a problem with my rebate for this product!! I have installed this product on an Acer and HP laptop without any issues, and it seems to do all it says. On my older eMachine T6003 with a 1.8GHz AMD Athlon 64 processor, 4 GB of memory, running windows 7, the product crippled my browser access.
  • Pros: Good rebate. Working well on two laptops
  • Cons: Unable to make it run on older desktop See other thoughts

  • Pros: Easy install. On sale.
  • Cons: I was using Microsoft Security Essentials and decided to try this because of the sale price of $7.95. It seems to have slowed my system considerably. I still have options for 2 more machines for 2 years but I think I'll pass.

Awesome deal with great protection

Dean g., Newegg
23 January 2014
  • Summary: It just works, my subscription had ran out and I waited 3 weeks for newegg to have it on sale again or would have just stuck with Microsoft security essentials.
  • Pros: Bite defender is an awesome anti virus program that causes no lag unlike the main brands people are use to and have never had a virus while using this for the past 2 years. Has gaming mode also
  • Cons: none

Not the best

James P., Newegg
20 January 2014
  • Summary: Not impressed. Although it does well in independent testing, I was amazed to see it flag simple cookies as viruses. Detecting a common sound driver as a virus is beyond the pale. Not recommended.
  • Pros: Inexpensive. Does well in independent testing. Easy install.
  • Cons: Detects cookies as viruses. If you turn off background scanning, it generates a security warning that you cannot turn off. Detected X-Fi driver as a virus and removed it from system without prompting, rendering sound card inoperative.

David W., Newegg
11 January 2014
  • Summary: I was disappointed as I had done a lot of research before I decided what to buy. Low system impacts was one of the review findings.
  • Pros: Price, lots of features
  • Cons: Slowed Core 2 Dual laptop to a crawl. I left it installed for several days hoping things would get better after initial scans...they didn't. Uninstalled and reloaded Symantec Endpoint Protection... Previous performance was restored. May reload and fiddle with the settings.

One of the BEST A/V products out there

Arbra C., Newegg
10 December 2013
  • Pros: Bitdefender Antivirus Plus is one of the top rated A/V products on the market. I'm a Computer Consultant with over 30 years experience, and it's one of the few "paid" A/V products that I recommend. It doesn't hog the resources of your PC (like some well-known brands) and provides great protection from most malware, even giving a warning if you go to a malevolent website. Keep in mind this version is Anti-Virus only and does not include a firewall. Buy their Internet S...
  • Cons: Not really a con, but some updates do occasionally require a system reboot.

Poor performance, most attributes are non functional

Mr. j., Newegg
26 November 2013
  • Summary: This is the most annoying AV I have ever bought. Has no user interaction -1 Egg Lies on it's protection -2 eggs Everything else is a lie (THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!!) -1 egg (I cant take away the other 3 eggs for them trying to sell you stuff within it.) Norton is far better than this. I don't care how much you hear people ripping on it, it is user functional, interactive and it works, if it doesn't work for an avid user, toss it out..... ...
  • Pros: Very good AV and Male-ware protection. User interface is great for people that do not want or need to interact with it. Autopilot is great for users that wouldn't know how to clean there PC and don't mind paying further dues for there PC to be clean with interactive help from Bitdefender. Installation was easy.
  • Cons: Wallet is useless in Win 7 64 bit Browser Integration in win 7 64 bit is non existent other than Firefox, not IE 10 or 11 do so. Fire wall does not exist.... it is A complete lie, there is no Firewall at all, PC still using Windows firewall, and there is no option to turn on the bit defender firewall. It updates to the cloud many times a day, and shoots messages when it can not, this is an issue if you do not have a continuous connection to the internet. it keeps popp...
