Beautiful, excellent quality 35mm SLR manual camera
1 February 2011
Summary: The Vivitar V3800N is a mechanical manual SLR film camera, as for 2011, you can still buy it brand new. I believe it's a fantastic camera. Besides being all manual, it's surprisingly easy to use. It doesn't really needs batteries to work, only for the very accurate meter. Like the Nikon FM10, this camera is made by Cosina.
Summary: I bought this camera for my daughter to use in her college "intro to photography" class. It was exactly what she needed. It proved to be easy to learn to use and I would recommend it to others looking for a similar product.
Summary: I am using this camera for a university photography class (black and white) and am very happy with it. It has half-stops for more accurate aperture settings, which I'm really appreciating now that we're shooting. It feels very sturdy and has a good response. My first prints are looking good. It seems I can do everything with this camera that I should be able to do at this level. Good price, and with case, carrying bag, strap, etc.
Summary: This is a great 35mm. film camera for the student or advanced photographer. It accepts the K-mount lenses which are plentiful and in-expensive on the used market. Although it does not have the build quality of a Nikon or some of the other "big name" cameras, it has every feature required to take excellent photos. The exposure meter in mine is highly accurate and can be relied upon, ( if you know how to use a center weighted manual meter).
Summary: I like this camera, because this is the first equip i learned to take pictures on. I wanted to use it as a decor in my photo lab as well as take black and white photos again, for a portfolio. I love it!
