A Happy Buyer

6175_clarke, Ebay
9 May 2014
  • Summary: I wanted a 35mm camera that was an SLR. After looking at what was available I decided on the Pentax K1000. It was all manual, something I value for complete control, and it was extremely simple to use. The built in light meter was an added plus. Another plus was the fact that the battery for the light meter, LR44 or SR44 is readily available unlike the batteries for some older cameras.

Simple, reliable, fun...

  • Summary: I purchased this camera for a photography class (plus I wanted one after using my uncle's Pentax K1000), this camera is awesome. This is an all-manual 35mm SLR film camera that is pretty straight to the point. Between the camera body itself and a lens, there are settings for film speed, shutter speed, and aperture (and maybe zoom depending on the lens being used) - that's it.

My favorite camera

Annyela de Oliveira, Amazon
6 September 2013
  • Summary: I am a camera lover. I have 8 different cameras, and this one is probably my favorite. I don't use it more than my digital DSLR because it gets expensive to print films often. But I love the results I get with this pentax camera and the 50mm lens. Amazing. I would recommend to anyone who loves photography; for anyone who is a professional or just a beginner.

Manual cameras are fun

Kelly S. Larue "Kelly", Amazon
20 August 2013
  • Summary: I bought the Pentax SL that was one step below the Spotmatic in 1965 My camera preceded the K1000 but is identical in appearance. It took great pictures in both color and B&W. I used it for years. The camera was rugged and reliable. The only time I had a problem was when I jammed the film advance lever by snapping it too fast. I had to take it in to be released. The repairman said it's a common problem with these cameras and the repair was quick and cheap.

  • Summary: Very dependable camera. I have used this camera many times in the past and decided to purchase another one for parts just in case anything breaks on the one I have. It is built very hardy and serves as a great camera for beginners.

My favorite, go to SLR camera for over 25 Years

vegasrue, Ebay
17 May 2013
  • Summary: I have pentex k1000 that I purchased new in 1985. This is a manual camera that is easy to use. I bought this camera to carry along with the other so I have one with black and white and one with color. I would rate this much higher than the Minolta AE1that I have used for years. I feel it gets the shot you want. It is consist as the manual camera that it is. This is my go to. I have a few digitals also. So depending what or where I am shooting I am covered.

  • Summary: The camera is great. Haven't developed photos yet but it seems to work just fine. Very happy. I wanted an old film SLR to learn more about photography and this one was affordable. My friends were buying the same vintage model from other sellers and mine compares well with theirs.
